Hop, Skip & a Jump

Hop, Skip & a Jump is an activity program for children with special needs.

Our focus is on strengthening the social and motor skills of children with special needs through an interactive play program filled with fun! Our program includes small group settings with a high child to staff ratio as well as integrated classes where children with special needs are paired with peer models in an active play environment. Our multi-tiered program means that classes are designed in

age- and ability-appropriate levels. Activities include playground games, parachute play, relay races, social skills games, music activities and much, much more!

It’s National Special Education Day! In an attempt to get classes ready for the Winter we are asking for donations for basic class fees. Any amount helps us get one step closer to our goal.

Even though Lender has retired, we are so excited to bring some awesome educators to the team!

Caty Butler is a full time music teacher in BRRSD. She holds both a bachelors degree from University of Delaware and a masters degree from Columbia University in Music Education. She has played professionally throughout the area on cello and bass, and loves teaching students privately on all string instruments. She works closely with the special education team at school and is looking forward to teaching the classes at Hop!

Meghan Doyle is a New Jersey based multi-instrumentalist and teacher. She is primarily a guitarist but also plays drumset, bass, a little bit of keys, and the occasional bit of banjo, mandolin, lap steel, and trombone. She also has a wealth of experience in both live audio and recording, and a bit of experience in theatrical lighting and production. When she’s not making music Meghan can most likely be found at home snuggling her three cats Lil’ mama, Rey, and Finn.

Tim O’Hara is a is a multi- instrumentalist, composer, and educator. He holds a degree in composition with a minor in education from NYU. Tim has years of experience playing children’s music classes and can be found playing all over the area performing anything from pop music to Christmas carols. When Tim isn’t making music, you’ll find him at home playing video games with his pet cat, Pippin.

We wanted to let everyone know that we will not be running a Fall Session of Hop this year due to the current guidelines for indoor settings. We hope that soon this will all be behind us and we can resume our Saturday sessions safely.

Hi HOPPERS,
We miss you soooooo much and can’t wait to get classes up and running as soon as it is safe to do so. We hope you are well, safe, and healthy. Here is a quick activity we are doing to have fun and practice our fine motor skills! All you need are some bowls, some ice cubes, and a set of tongs. We even got a little wild and made a tray of green ice cubes 🧊! Let us know if you give it a try 💙
