The ICE Program has been a part of Bridgewater State University since January 2011. The Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment (ICE) Program is a grant funded program; funding comes from the Executive Office of Education. The program is designed to give students with intellectual/severe disabilities the opportunity to experience college life much like their peers. The ultimate goal of the ICE Program is

to give post-secondary students between the ages of 18 and 22 years of age the skills and education needed to gain competitive paid employment. There are several components to the program; first - the ICE students audit a class at BSU, second - ICE students attend monthly Career Connections workshops, third - ICE students attend weekly education coaching sessions and lastly, the social component; we have our traditional aged undergraduate students serve as Peer Mentors. The Peer Mentors introduce the ICE students to the campus community, i.e., take them to theater productions, athletic events, give them information about clubs and activities and help them become acclimated with the campus.
