BC Jazz Alumni!!

I am working on putting together the alumni jazz band for Homecoming this year and I hope that you can make it back to campus!! Homecoming is on Saturday Oct. 24. We will have a concert that evening at 7:30 and a rehearsal earlier in the day, probably at 10:00am-11:30.

The online store to purchase BC Music attire is now open! You can purchase items with logos for BC Music, BC Choir, BC Jazz, BC Music Education and the Screamin’ Eagles Marching Band. The store is only open for 1 week and will close on Wednesday September 16th, so don't wait to order. Alumni and families can even have your order sent to BC and pick it up when you come to campus for Homecoming!

Calling all BC Music alumni!! We have some exciting events for you to participate in this year! Please mark these in your calendar:

Homecoming (Oct. 24) - Alumni Jazz Band and Pep Band/Marching Band alumni play in the stands at the football game.

2001 Stagg Bowl Recognition (Nov. 7) - Football team and pep band members will be recognized at the game. If you were a part of this band and have not received an email invitation please let Dr. Carrillo or Dr. Longenecker know!

Oratorio Choir (Nov. 16) - If you live close to BC, please consider joining the Oratorio Choir this fall. Please contact Dr. Keebaugh for details.

Final concert of the academic year....Chamber Music Concert! We will feature the percussion ensembles, Chamber Strings, Guitar Ensemble, piano duo, flute choir, trumpet ensemble, tuba/vibes duo, clarinet choir, tuba euphonium ensemble, and the sax choir.

Professor Emeritus, Dr. Jesse E. Hopkins will forever be remembered as a pillar of Bridgewater College’s musical life—a choral director of rare sensitivity, a teacher of enduring compassion, and a colleague whose quiet wisdom shaped generations of students and musicians.

To his students, Dr. Hopkins was more than a professor—he was a mentor, a guide, and often a quiet source of encouragement during times of growth. To his colleagues, he was a scholar-musician whose presence enriched the college community. To the broader world, he was a choral artist whose influence will continue to resonate in every life shaped by his music.

His legacy lives on in every rehearsal room where young musicians strive for beauty, in every performance shaped by care and intention, and in every voice, he helped find courage and confidence.

May his memory be for a blessing—an enduring harmony carried forward in the countless lives he touched.

Day 1 of the Virginia Music Educator’s Association was a huge success for Bridgewater College Music! See the descriptions in the pictures to see all of the wonderful things that we accomplished on Day 1. We are all looking forward to Day 2!!
