Our chapter received the 2025-26 Grand Chapter Award at the 58th Sigma Pi Fraternity Biennial Convocation. As many of you may have heard by now, our chapter at Bridgewater State has officially been closed as of May 2026. This award is a testament to the hard work our members put in even in times of adversity. It’s incredibly fitting that one of our founding fathers, Ed Levesque, who is a Past Grand Sage, was the one to accept this award in our chapter’s behalf. Ed has poured his heart and soul into Sigma Pi Fraternity, locally, regionally and nationally. While our chapter may be closed, our brothers have many great memories and lifelong friendships because of our great fraternity. 11-13

Matt Schaub was a great fraternity brother and friend to so many of us. Matt served as vice president and secretary during his time as an active member of Sigma Pi. He was also voted Brother of the Year in 2003 after being our MVP of Greek Week to help our chapter win it at the last moment in the final event. We will be gathering at Darcy’s Village Pub in Quincy, MA on Tuesday, July 7th after the wake. Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

For many of our organizations it all began with a pasta dinner while rushing our new chapter, a symbol of family and connectivity. In that same spirit, the Greek Week Spaghetti Social and Networking Event will allow our Alumni to break bread with our collegiate chapters to give them a glimpse of what being a Greek means post-graduation. Currently the health of fraternity and sorority life is struggling in the Northeast, and as such we are calling on you, our BSU Fraternity and Sorority Alumni to help strengthen the fantastic Greek community we have built over the years here at Bridgewater State. Alumni across all our Greek organizations are invited to campus to interact with current students on topics such as friendship, leadership opportunities, networks, and career paths as they discuss how they have personally been shaped by their involvement as a fraternity or sorority member here on campus. We hope to encourage the importance of Fraternity and Sorority life and communicate how it can positively impact students in their own lives.
