🍎 IMPORTANT REMINDER: FREE & REDUCED-PRICE LUNCH APPLICATIONS 🍎

Dear Hopewell Crest Families,

Please be reminded that the grace period for free and reduced-price lunch benefits ends on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

⚠️ If your child received free or reduced-price lunch benefits last school year, a new application must be submitted for the current school year to continue receiving those benefits, unless your family has already been approved.

Families who have not completed the application or received approval by October 15 will automatically transition to paid meal status. Beginning at that time, meal charges will accumulate on your child's account and will be the family's responsibility to pay.

Thank you to all of our families who continue to stay connected and engaged with Hopewell Crest!

If you have not yet joined our Hopewell Crest School Story on ClassDojo, you can find the ClassDojo Connection document in your Genesis Parent Portal under Documents. The document includes the QR code needed to join our School Story.

Joining the School Story is a great way to stay up to date on district and school announcements, reminders, events, activities, and other important information throughout the year.

Please note that joining an individual teacher’s ClassDojo does not automatically connect you to the school-wide Story, so we encourage all families to make sure they are connected to both.

💙💛 Hopewell Crest Week of Respect | October 5–9 🦅

Hello, Hopewell Crest families! Next week, our Hawks will celebrate Week of Respect with daily themes focused on respect, kindness, inclusion, and standing up for others.

Each day will include a special spirit theme and a simple message encouraging students to help make Hopewell Crest a welcoming, safe, and respectful place for everyone. Please see the attached flyer for each day’s theme and what students are invited to wear.

We will finish the week on Friday, October 9 by participating in NJ Goes Gold & Blue — United for Respect! Students and staff are encouraged to wear gold and/or blue as we stand together as one school community.

Participation in the spirit themes is encouraged but completely optional. Most importantly, we hope every Hawk will take part by showing kindness, including others, making positive choices, and treating everyone with respect.

Respect isn’t just something we celebrate for one week—it’s how HAWKS SOAR every day! 🦅💙💛

Important School Closure Notice

Dear Hopewell Crest Families,

Due to an unexpected facilities issue that has resulted in a loss of water service at the school, Hopewell Crest School will be closed today, Friday, October 2.

The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we appreciate your understanding as this issue is addressed.

Please note that today will need to be made up later in the school year. Families will be notified as soon as the make-up date is determined.

HAWKS SOAR! Caring for Our School Community

Hopewell Crest School is committed to a welcoming learning environment and fair, lawful enrollment practices.

If you have a question about school residency requirements or specific, firsthand information about a possible enrollment concern, please contact Skip Calabrese at [email protected] privately.

Please do not identify students or families in public comments, share photographs or addresses, investigate, or confront anyone. Transportation arrangements or the appearance of a home alone do not determine a student’s eligibility.

Students experiencing homelessness or certain other family circumstances may have legal rights to enroll or remain enrolled. Concerns should never be based on race, national origin, language, or perceived immigration status.

District staff will review information through established procedures, protect student records as required by law, and respect families’ enrollment and appeal rights.

Thank you for helping keep our school community respectful, supportive, and welcoming.

Dear Hopewell Crest Families and Staff,

We want to make you aware that earlier today, Hopewell Crest School was placed in a temporary shelter-in-place due to a medical emergency involving a student. This precaution was taken to allow the situation to be addressed safely and appropriately while maintaining the privacy of those involved.

All necessary parties were contacted, and the situation was handled promptly. The shelter-in-place has since been lifted, and the school has resumed normal operations.

We understand that situations like this may cause concern, and we want to assure our families that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate the cooperation of our students and staff throughout the situation and thank our families for their continued support and understanding.

💙🦅 Hopewell Crest Families — Genesis Parent Portal Access Is Now Available!

A Parent Portal Access email has been sent to the parent/guardian email address we have on file. Please check your email, including your spam or junk folder, for your Genesis login information.

Once logged in, we encourage you to review your student’s schedule and teacher information for the 2026–2027 school year.

🚌 Important Bus Information Update:
If you notice any conflicting or contradictory information regarding your student’s bus assignment or transportation details in Genesis, please know that we are aware of these issues. Our Genesis technical team is actively working to correct and update the bussing information, and we appreciate your patience as this work is completed.

The Genesis Parent Portal Quick-Start Cheat Sheet is attached for additional login and navigation support.

🦅💙 Hopewell Crest Families — Our Back-to-School Newsletter Is Here!

Our August/September 2026-2027 Hopewell Highlights Newsletter is attached, and we encourage all families to take a few moments to review it as we prepare to welcome our Hawks back for another great school year!

While every edition of Hopewell Highlights contains important information, this back-to-school edition is especially helpful in making sure you and your student(s) are prepared to start the year strong. Inside, you’ll find important school information, reminders, upcoming dates, expectations, and helpful QR codes and links that provide quick access to key areas of our district website and family resources.

📲 Genesis Parent Portal Update

The Genesis Parent Portal will be available for families to access next week. Once access opens, families will be able to view their student’s 2026-2027 schedule and assigned teacher(s).

We sincerely appreciate your patience as our team has worked diligently throughout the summer to prepare Genesis for use this school year. Converting to a new student information system is a significant process, and we have taken great care to prepare the system and review information so families can begin the year with the resources they need.

🧸 Pre-K Families — ClassDojo Information Coming Monday

On Monday, August 24, Pre-K families will receive a Blackboard message with information and a link to join the Hopewell Crest School community on ClassDojo. ClassDojo will be an important way for us to share school and district updates throughout the year, so we encourage all Pre-K families to join once the information is received.

Dear Hopewell Crest Families,

We are pleased to share that Hopewell Crest School District will provide all essential classroom supplies for every student during the 2026–2027 school year at no cost to families.
Families do not need to purchase standard classroom supplies or complete individual grade-level supply lists. Our goal is to ensure that every student begins the year prepared to learn while reducing the expense and stress often associated with back-to-school shopping.

Please note the following:

1. Families are responsible for providing a bookbag and, if needed, a lunch box or lunch bag.

2. Every student should have sneakers for Physical Education.

3. Students participating in a sports club should follow the coach’s instructions regarding any activity-specific items that may be needed.

4. Teachers will provide the classroom materials required for instruction.

We are grateful for your continued partnership and look forward to welcoming our students back for another successful school year.
