📣 We are so proud to announce that the Cumberland Regional High School Drama Program has once again been named as a Premier School for Theatre Education, a national distinction presented by the Educational Theatre Association. This distinction is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional achievement in providing meaningful, high quality theatre education and access for all students.
🍎To qualify for the distinction, the Cumberland Regional High School Drama Academy completed a comprehensive application documenting its support for theatre education in areas including funding, curriculum, instructional time, facilities, student participation, teacher development and evaluation, and overall institutional commitment to the program. All responses were verified with official documentation and reviewed by the Educational Theatre Association.
💛“Cumberland Regional High School’s recognition as one of just fifteen Premier Schools for Theatre Education nationwide is a tremendous honor for our entire district. Theatre education matters deeply in a well rounded school experience. It teaches students to think critically, collaborate effectively, communicate with confidence, and approach challenges with empathy and imagination. In our theatre classrooms and on our stages, students learn to take risks, solve problems, and understand perspectives different from their own. These are skills that serve them not only in the arts, but in every academic discipline, every career path, and every aspect of life,” said Carl Dolente, Superintendent. “This award reflects the strength of our program, the dedication of our students and staff, and the support of our community. A special congratulations goes to Mrs. Campbell, whose leadership and passion for the arts have been instrumental in earning this distinction.”
✏ Mrs. Tracy DiFilippantonio, a parent of a current student, added that she "is grateful for the theatre program at Cumberland Regional High School. It has made a huge impact on the success and well-being of our son and his friends during their high school career. It has provided them a chance to shine on and off stage. And it has given them the most amazing, accepting, and caring friend group, and we are so thankful.”
🎭We are so grateful to the Educational Theatre Association for this honor and we are so proud of all of our current and past students who have made this award possible. Thank you so much!
