Here at our "Gem in the Woods" we believe that EVERY CHILD IS EXTRAORDINARY. Woodland is an independent elementary school for children of diverse backgrounds.

Formed in 1959 as St, John's Day School, Woodland's goal has always been to create the best possible environment for the intellectual, social, physical, and moral growth of students. Woodland was the first independent elementary school in South Jersey to be accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in 1984 and is re-accredited every ten years. Our Food Science campers had a delicious week of learning with Mr. Betz! πŸ§ͺπŸžπŸ—πŸ¦

From French toast and waffles to mustard, buttermilk chicken, popcorn, ice cream, focaccia bread, pasta, and everything in between, campers discovered the science behind some of their favorite foods while developing valuable life skills in the kitchen.
Throughout the week, students explored how ingredients work together, learned about chemical reactions in cooking, practiced measuring and following recipes, and gained confidence as they created their own culinary masterpieces. The smiles, laughter, and amazing aromas coming from the science lab were proof that learning can be both educational and delicious!

A huge thank you to Mr. Betz for sharing his passion for science, cooking, and hands-on learning with our campers.

Missed Food Science Camp? Don't worry - there's still time to register for several of our upcoming specialty camps! Join us for Board Game Camp, Video Game Camp, Summer Stage, Dungeons & Dragons, LEGO Camp, and more. These camps are designed to spark creativity, encourage problem-solving, build friendships, and most importantly, make summer fun!

Visit our website (https://wcdsnj.org/our-summer-care-booklet/) or contact the school office (856-453-8499) to learn more and reserve your spot before camps fill up.

As we approach the final days of our 2025–2026 Annual Fund Campaign, we invite you to help us finish strong.

First and foremost, thank you to the many parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends who have already made a gift this year. Your generosity has a direct impact on our students each and every day. Simply put, we could not do this without you.

Every gift to the Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Woodland education. These donations support our classrooms, technology, campus improvements, arts and athletic programs, financial aid, and the special opportunities that enrich the student experience.

When you give, you are investing in:
β€’ Dedicated teachers who inspire a love of learning
β€’ Hands-on experiences that bring learning to life
β€’ A safe, nurturing environment where every child is known and valued
β€’ The traditions, programs, and experiences that make Woodland such a special place

Most importantly, you are investing in our students - their growth, their confidence, their character, and their future.

As our campaign winds down, every gift matters. Whether it is $5, $25, $100, or more, your participation sends a powerful message that you believe in Woodland and in the work we do together.

If you have already donated, thank you for being part of this effort. If you have not yet had the opportunity to make a gift, there is still time to help us reach our goal.

Together, we are making a difference - one student, one family, and one gift at a time. πŸ’™πŸ€

πŸŽ“ Testimonial Tuesday Spotlight: Congratulations, Evelyn Lowe!

Today, we are proud to highlight our 2026 Valedictorian, Evelyn Lowe!
Evelyn has been a Woodland Panther since PK4, and throughout her years at WCDS, she has exemplified academic excellence, leadership, dedication, and kindness. She is the daughter of Judy and Jeff Lowe and represents a proud legacy of Woodland families. As a second-generation WCDS alumna, Evelyn follows in the footsteps of her mother, Dr. Judy Lowe, Class of 1991. She also joins her two older brothers, Colin and Ethan, as WCDS graduates, making the Lowe family an enduring part of our school community.
This fall, Evelyn will continue her educational journey at Paul VI High School, where she has been awarded the prestigious Aquila Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements.
Whether in the classroom, on the stage as a talented thespian, or as a loyal friend to her classmates, Evelyn has made a lasting impact on everyone around her. We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
Congratulations, Evelyn! Once a Panther, always a Panther. πŸ’™πŸΎ

Where Are They Now Wednesday

This week we're celebrating Ethan W., a proud member of the Woodland Class of 2025!

Ethan is currently attending Bridgeton High School and has already made an impressive impact on the track and field team. As a freshman, he is ranked 6th in New Jersey in discus and 12th in shot put among freshman athletes.

We are thrilled to see Ethan's hard work and dedication paying off and know this is just the beginning. We can't wait to see where the rest of your high school career takes you.

Congratulations, Ethan! We are incredibly proud of you and will be cheering you on every step of the way.

Yesterday's Field Day was everything it should beβ€”beautiful weather, endless laughter, and the perfect way to celebrate another incredible school year at Woodland.

A huge thank you to Ms. DeLuca for organizing such a fantastic day. Events like this require countless hours of planning, and her hard work made it a memorable experience for our students. Thank you as well to our amazing faculty, staff, volunteers, and families who helped make the day run so smoothly.

One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing more than 45 Woodland alumni return to campus. Watching them reconnect with former teachers, visit old classrooms, and catch up with friends was a wonderful reminder that while students may graduate from Woodland, Woodland never really leaves them.

Thank you to Mrs. Martin and her snow cone crew for keeping everyone cool throughout the day. The snow cones were definitely a hit. I even had one student proudly tell me he enjoyed six of them. While I can't officially confirm that number, it may have been a new Field Day record!

We are also grateful to Student Union for providing the inflatables. Their support, and the support of our families throughout the year, helps create the special experiences our students enjoy.

As I walked around campus, I was reminded that Field Day is about so much more than games and competitions. It's about community, friendships, and making memories together. Seeing students, alumni, families, teachers, and volunteers enjoying the day side by side was a beautiful reminder of what makes Woodland such a special place.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day unforgettable! Congratulations to the Blue Team on their win.

And for fun, add your Field Day photos below!
