A huge thank you to all of our University of Bridgeport alumni and friends who joined us for an unforgettable evening at the New York Athletic Club! A big special thanks to our event sponsors: Gordon Stier '77, Art Landi '74, and Lorraine Taylor '76. We were especially honored to welcome NBA legend Walt "Clyde" Frazier from the New York Knicks, who spent the evening meeting guests, taking photos, signing gear, and sharing basketball memories with everyone.
If you couldn't make it, check out these photos to see some of our alumni with Walt, and we hope to see you at our next alumni event!

As we continue celebrating our recent graduation for the Class of 2026, we’re excited to share a collection of photos and stories from our graduates, in their own words, how UB helped shape their journeys:
Bruno Cakurs earned a Bachelor's Degree in Finance and will be studying at Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon. “It was amazing here at UB,” he says fondly. “I had four years of growth and transformation.”
While working at a pediatrician’s office, Sianna Haviland majored in Psychology and hopes to go into the UB Masters’ program in either Counseling or Health Sciences.
Gymnastics teammates and graduates Samantha Krenzel, Criminal Justice, and Maddie Viles, Psychology, celebrate their graduation. Samantha will be returning to the UB graduate program in Criminal Justice while Maddie is heading to work in her field.
Student athlete Matthew Levantini earned a degree in Marketing and was selected as one of 80 graduates across the country to participate in a career event at the Stryker Corporation.
UB Advancement’s own Jack Mindek graduated with a Master’s Degree in Technology Management, a unique program that combines business and engineering. “This is a really cool degree that very few schools have,” says Mindek. “It’s a really good mix of business administration, software implementation, and project management.”
LPN Jessica Monteiro earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. She is working toward getting her registered nurse degree and eventually wants to go into management.
James Najera graduated with a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, serving as president of the Med Lab Sciences club. He will be working as a technologist at Yale New Haven Hospital next year.
Marina de Oliviera is graduating with a Psychology degree and next year will be attending graduate school at UB in Mental Health Counseling. “I had a lot of fun and met great friends,” she says. “I feel like part of a team here.”
UB soccer player Jakob Reinhardt majored in Business Administration and next year is headed to Universidade Católica Portuguesa to play soccer and earn a graduate degree.
Ashley Smith has been practicing dental hygiene with an Associate Degree for 17 years, but decided to come to UB to get her bachelor’s in dental hygiene. She’ll be continuing to work in clinical dental hygiene as she moves into a bright future.

Winter in America, the latest exhibit at Schelfhaudt Gallery, explores the spectrum of the season and of our times.
The exhibit runs from January 29 through March 15, 2026. An opening night reception will be held from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM on January 29. No RSVP is required.
The address for the Schelfhaudt Gallery is:
Schelfhaudt Gallery
University of Bridgeport
505 University Avenue
Bridgeport, CT 06604
For some, the phrase “Winter in America” conjures up sipping hot chocolate by a warm crackling fireplace on a snowy winter’s eve. For others, winter could imply a harsher reality of food scarcity and biting cold, or a metaphorical period of frozen dreams, frozen ideas, and frozen inspiration, cultural decline, political malaise, or chilling of free speech?
For Peter Schelfhaudt, curator of the exhibit, winter is a time for reflection, assessment, recalibration, preparation, and transition. “We’ve had an overwhelming response from artists expressing a wide variety of perspectives from whimsical to worried; but it’s not all Norman Rockwell.” Sheryl Renee Dobson, one of the artists in the show, adds, "I am honored to exhibit works in the groundbreaking "Winter in America" exhibition at the University of Bridgeport's prestigious Schelfhaudt Gallery. I believe that art can be transformative, and it is my hope that my works encourage connection, reflection, and critical thought."
Other featured artists include a variety of local, national, and international artists such as Sandra Cavanagh, Carin Kulb Dangot, Laura Heijn, Monica Tiulescu, and Rick Shaefer.
