Here is my recommendation for a lightweight, small-packing, affordable tent for moto travel:
The Naturehike Cloud Trek 2-person bikepacking tent.
"BIKEpacking"...not "BACKpacking".
What's the difference?
This tent (and some others like it) uses pole segments that are only 15" long. It's packed length is 15.7", meaning it will fit in most panniers.
It comes with a footprint (ground cloth) as well. It's virtually identical to the MSR tent I used for many years, but it's less than half the price at $119.
Naturehike has become a standout company in our ADV space because of their great value. Not just tents, either. They now make cots that are better (IMO) than my Helinox, and again for less than half the price.
