How do I decide what instruments, music, etc to bring to each session!?!

I select options that are DEVELOPMENTALLY appropriate! I stress that word because we're working to reach children at the stage they are, not the age they are!

Then I collaborate with the organizer to determine if there is a certain goal they want to work on. My classes are generally for the benefits of rhythm, but sometimes we can also work on things more specifically, such as: listening, regulation, safety, or a certain academic topic like numbers, science and weather (to name a few!). I have also collaborated with themes for holidays, birthdays and other celebrations!

Each session is unique and personally mapped out!!

Visual aides... heck YES I've got them!! Our visual learners deserve this inclusion!!!

I make sure to show visuals of the safety rules before each session. AND I'm now incorporating a visual schedule for our time together, as well as a visual reminder that helps distinguish if we're expected to be sitting to play an instrument or we're standing to do movement!

I strive to reach ALL Groove N Grow Learners, whether they are visual, auditory, kinesthetic or read-writer!

Starting my "25 Sensory Bins in a Year Challenge" today!!!

My hope in sharing is that you'll find at least one or two that your child(ren) will love!!

First up..."KID CAFE" ☕!!!

A twist I add to my bins: I include 1-3 toys and a visual aid (or two), to promote "functional play"! This allows children to learn to play functionally with toys WHILE getting their sensory needs met!! (research shows children learn best when their sensory needs are fulfilled!)

🥁🪇Miss Chris is taking the trampolines, drums, rhythm sticks, scarves, maracas and shakers to the Saginaw YMCA tonight for a GROOVIN' fun time with the Special Angels Inc group!!

🎶JOIN US!! 🎶.... Special Angels is a non-profit recreation program for individuals with special needs, and their families! Groove N Grow facilitates Music and Movement every fourth Friday of the month for this group, at 5pm inside the YMCA! It's free!!... Come check us out tonight!!

Groove N Grow Family...Miss Chris here! It's been a while since I have been active on social media, and also a while since I have actively been offering classes!

Rest assured, I have still been Grooving...and DEFINITELY Growing! In fact, we have been GROWING our family!!

About a year and a half ago, I made a tough decision to pause my rhythm and movement classes...but for GOOD reason...I hit PLAY on becoming a Foster Mom, which deserved my attention!

Since that time, I have slowly been adding back my classes, per request. I have also started offering caregiver training so EVERYONE can access and utilize music and movement in their growing journey!

**FAST FORWARD TO NOW**...it's time again to offer classes to all of YOU!

Had an amazing time with my little crew tonight, who braved the heat!! We kept the moves low-key, and the notes on-key 😉. They had seriously amazing rhythm going tonight.... It's so impressive to watch them grow!!

Oh also, we restocked the little library at the park so go grab a book and join the library's summer reading program!!!
