Dear Friends,
Today, in our series on Alleviating Poverty, we’re exploring “The Attitude of Poverty.”
Have you ever wondered how your attitude toward the poor can change lives? Amid the complexities of our world, how we see the “poor in spirit” can make an incredible difference.
As I Care Outreach engages in the work of alleviating poverty—I believe there is a hidden invitation in a more meaningful way to understand poverty or even to seek to understand poverty.
Poverty is a shared human experience. Each of us wrestle with a sense of lack or incompleteness and neediness. Poverty exists in those parts of ourselves that are not what they could be… places we cannot repair through our own well-meaning resources and strength.
As I reflect on the instability within our communities. I am reminded that Christ-centered, practical life education, training, and service is a critical need to “tackle the shackles of poverty” while fostering spiritual connection, relationship building and community re-humanization.
In Luke 18:9-14, Jesus speaks of being “poor in spirit.” He tells a story of a Pharisee and a tax collector. The parable illustrates the difference between those who think they are spiritually connected and the “poor in spirit.”
Listen as I share some insights regarding alleviating poverty.
Pastor Robert M. Turner

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, Moving Through Podcast
November 2025: “Alleviating Poverty, Part 2”
“They all ate and were satisfied.” (Mark 6:42)
“In every crisis, the wisdom of God is on display.” We are continuing with our Fall “Moving Through Podcast” series on “Alleviating Poverty”.
In today’s podcast I will tell a story about an opportunity, a real life story for all of us to see Jesus inviting people to alleviate poverty. We see Jesus solve this crisis and gave the disciples a life practice task to take away.
I believe Jesus still places impossible tasks in front of us to see if we will bring the problem back to Him so His wisdom is put on display.
I Care Outreach understands the importance that education and training are problem-solving significant components that work within the transformational process to add new practices of life for alleviating poverty.
Listen to His story,
Pastor Robert M. Turner

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, Moving Through Podcast
October 2025: “Alleviating Poverty”
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for THEIRS is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:1,2,3)
It is with gratitude and joy, in this changing season, we thank you for bringing beauty into the lives of many! Jessie and I want to say thank you for allowing us the space to pause this past summer as we worked through critical program restructuring for I Care Outreach’s expansion of community outreach focus, mission, and services.
This October we are beginning a new “Moving Through Podcast” series on “Alleviating Poverty”. In this fall podcast series, I will share the “why” I Care Outreach is joining God at His work in community, “Alleviating Poverty”.
In Matthew 5:1,2,3 we find Jesus, posturing himself with compassion giving the perfect course to alleviate poverty. It is an invitation for us to come to the table in community with curiosity, creativity and with a mindset of resolve to be a conduit of transformation and rise to the challenges.
I Care Outreach is strategically intentional about continually aligning ourselves to serve our participants, students, guest in equipping, teaching, training to rebuild their lives with a Christ-centered approach.
Listen as we share insights for understanding the context of ICO’s alleviating poverty pathway.

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, Moving Through - Podcast #51
February 2025: “Hope Needs Faith”
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for.” (Hebrews 11:1a)
Jessie Turner joins me again as we continue our podcast discussion series on Hope. This is our 51st “Moving Through Podcast” titled “Hope Needs Faith”. Our conversation will be centered on the intersection of “Faith” and “Hope.”
Faith generally comes before hope, but the two are closely related and can be considered to interconnected. You see Faith Needs Hope……In our learning environment(s) as co-learners, we can share ways of the connected relevancy of life experiences/practices and behaviors.
Listen as we both share that our trust and faith in the Lord is the foundation of hope, and hope is a result of our faith.
Let us be fueled by our Faith and Hope in Christ!

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, Moving Through - Podcast #50
January 2025: “Hope Requires Vulnerability”
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Jessie Turner joins us today as we share and reflect further on our “Moving Through Podcast” with insights on, “Hope Requires Vulnerability.” Hope, considering the God Factor, requires our vulnerability and surrender.
Letting God into or use our vulnerabilities, can lead us to discover the unfathomable depth of Hope in Christ, Christ love and Christ’s healing. As we journey through learning how to live unafraid of our own vulnerabilities as prisoners of HOPE.
Listen as we share about courage to face change, change our patterns allowing God to strengthen and motivate us to be courageous in HOPE.
The Spirit of Christ is within us, FEAR NOT! The Lord says in Isaiah 42:10, “Be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you with my righteous right hand.”
His Hand,
Pastor Robert M. Turner

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, Moving Through - Podcast #49
December 2024: “Hope that Birth’s”
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel, which means ‘God with us.’” (Matthew 1:23)
Rev. Dr. Kirk Byron Jones joins us today as we share and reflect further on our “Moving Through podcast” with insights on, “Hope That Birth’s.” When Jesus shows up, our hope and expectations go up!
In a world that can often feel hopeless, the message of Christmas should remind us that God is still at work, bringing light into our darkness. God is at work providing hope in the now! He is always present with His love, care, and wisdom to guide us.
Listen as Dr. Kirk shares about “Advent Hope”, the birthing of hope as it relates to being embedded in our practices of soul care and the guarding of our minds and hearts. Our need to say “Yes to GRACE” to hold onto the space of having regular devotional experiences with the Lord.
The Spirit of Christ is within us, and it is a reservoir of wisdom, peace, joy and hope. “Be Still, Receive God’s Love, Embrace Personhood and Welcome each Day and moment of our life with a birth of Hope.”
With Confident Expectations,
Pastor Robert M. Turner

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, Moving Through Podcast #48
November 2024: “Hope that Sustains”
“Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:5)
Having hope in the face of uncertainty can be very difficult. This year’s podcast series on Hope has been centered around the biblical definition of hope, that is, considering the “God Factor.” Giving God His space to mature the mind of Christ in all of us so we can have His sustainable Power to live even in weakness.
Hope awakens by making us expectant and alive. A person with hope is alive to God. Hope is powerful. Hope is stimulating. Hope keeps us looking for the unexpected. It is His will coming out of the future as we are moving through in our lives!
God gives us “Hope that Sustains” and it grows out of our faith. A resolve that is oriented toward what He is working out in our lives. He knows the plans He has for us.
Making Hope Happen,
Pastor Robert M. Turner

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, 47th “Moving Through” Podcast:
“Learning Hope, Part 2”
The Lord says, I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, and it is for your well-being and peace, to give you a future and Hope!” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Hope really is to have confidence and trust…a maturing long-term hope, demonstrative, grounded in our confidence and trust in Him. Giving God His space to mature the mind of Christ in us so we can have His power to live.
During this mini-series we’ve shared eleven podcasts on different biblical and practical aspects of this topic of Hope. Today, Eugene Norris from Columbus, Ohio joins me again as we continue exploring the connection of learning and hope.
In this podcast conversation, “Learning Hope, Part 2“, we dive more deeply into the necessary intersection of learning and training and the renewal of our mind with hope. Listen as we converse about the importance of how an ongoing transformational learning process informs our “hope cycle” we experience in life.
Eugene will share that “God has given us agency to process change”, that is capacity to setting pathways in our lives to apply our belief with new learning outcomes. We have the ability to make choices in our lives to learn with the power of the Spirit of Christ.
Making Hope Happen!

I Care Outreach, 46th “Moving Through” Podcast:
“Learning Hope”
God is the God of Hope and we were created in Hope!
Our past eight Moving Through podcasts have been centered on having a “Framework of Hope”, with the “God Factor.” Giving God His space to mature the mind of Christ in us so we can have His power to live.
During this mini-series we’ve shared different biblical and practical aspects of “Thriving in Hope” with our “Freedom in Hope” having God’s “Redemptive Hope” with the “Spirit of Hope.” Our last four segments included “Trauma Informed Hope” and “UnCaptive Hope.”
Today, Eugene Norris from Columbus, Ohio joins me as we launch a two-part podcast conversation titled, “Learning Hope,“ exploring the connection of learning and hope. Learning challenges, us to a renewal of our mind, and living with a mind of Hope.
Listen as Eugene and I begin to discuss learning hope in the “being of our present” and learning hope in the “future as we are becoming.”
The building of Hope and growing spiritually takes time. It is a lifelong learning journey, “the renewing of our mind” (Romans 12:2).

Dear Friends,
I Care Outreach, 45th “Moving Through” Podcast:
We began exploring and examining what it is like “to live “Uncaptive” to the things, places, people and circumstances that can hold us hostage from being anchored in Hope”.
During our last conversation we shared what it means to have a Biblical approach to victory against strongholds that seek to take captive our “Hope” as we are moving through life.
Today, Dominic Scerbo joins me on part two of this subject “UNCAPTIVE HOPE”. Dominic serves in our I Care Outreach Training Center as a Co-learner, Facilitator and Ally with participants, sharing his faith, work/career experiences, and journey of moving through life working through challenges and choices.
Captivity can speak of one that has been “taken and held by a stronghold as if a prisoner of war.” To the extent that it can be involuntarily because you are in a situation that makes “free choice or departure” difficult.
Listen as we share about how life challenges come before us and if we are not soberminded and prayerful, life situations and/or decisions can derail us from being truly anchored in Hope.
The building of Hope and Spiritual Growth does take time. It is a lifelong journey! Remember to hold in your heart God’s Word, “He know the plans He has for us…to give us a hope and a future! (Jeremiah 29:11).
Our Hope, our renewed strength is coming!
