Curiale ESL students acknowledged their loving moms with a Mother’s Day celebration!!! Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there!! ❤️🌸🌺🌼🩷

Our 2nd-7th grade newcomer ESL students went on a field trip to the Fairfield Audubon. The students learned how weather affects plants and animals. The children loved this hands on learning experience and enjoyed being in the woods. What a wonderful learning adventure for our newcomers🌳🐿️🦋❤️

The Bilingual and World Languages Department for Bridgeport Public Schools will be hosting our annual EL Summit on May 15, 2024. This event showcases our Multilingual learners and their achievements. This year we have an amazing guest speaker providing effective strategies to use with our English learners. We also have a big raffle for our teachers. The Bilingual first and second grade classes at Johnson researched all about different types of Gingerbread Man Stories. Then they worked in groups to create a way to get their Gingerbread Man across the path without getting soggy. Using supplies and materials provided by the teachers, the children collaborated with one another making these amazing creations!! Love seeing our MLs having so much fun as they continue to learn and grow!!🎄🎅🏻❤️🌎

Ms. Parker’s first grade bilingual students read to Mr. Rodriguez’s second grade class. They have been working hard on their writing skills. Each student wrote a book about a specific animal they chose. Their book included facts about their animals as well as illustrations and labels. They did a phenomenal job!!! Love to see our Multilingual Learners so engaged in their learning!!! ❤️

The McKinney Vento Liason and the Family and Children’s Agency came to the Newcomer Arrival Center as guest speakers on November 8 for another great informative session for our newcomer families. The Family and Children’s Agency and the McKinney Vento are helping youth under age 18 who are experiencing housing instability/homelessness. ❤️🌎

The Newcomer Arrival Center offers informative sessions to our parents new to the country to help them adjust to our schools and community. In September, our family liaison, Monique Da Silva, provided sessions on Parent Square and Power School for the newly arrived families. In October, guest speakers from CIRI came and shared great resources to the families.The Bridgeport Police Department came to a session and interacted with a newly arrived family. Look at those happy faces!! ❤️🌎
