Churches don’t generally WANT to exclude people with disabilities. Most of the time, it happens quietly & is often unnoticed to some. Systems, assumptions, and structures that were never designed with disability belonging in mind.

Disability ministry isn’t about adding a “program.”
It’s about shifting the culture of a church so that belonging isn’t "earned" or negotiated.
It’s about making sure families don’t have to ask for permission to participate, and individuals with disabilities aren’t treated as “projects,” but as full & worthy members of the Body who serve an important purpose in the Kingdom.

It's not about perfection.
It’s about intention, humility, and the belief that the gospel is for everyone...without exceptions.

That’s the heart of disability ministry.
And that’s the work worth doing.

If you've not given much theological thought to the church's role when it comes to disability-specific ministry, that's ok. It wasn't until the last couple of years that I began to dig deeper.
