We hope everyone had a restful and relaxing summer. We are excited to welcome our students back and begin another wonderful school year together at Classical Studies Magnet Academy!
Before we get started, Iβd like to share a few important updates and reminders.
Staffing Update
We congratulate Mrs. Janet Sayegh, our former Assistant Principal and Interventionist, who has been appointed Assistant Principal at Cesar Batalla School. We wish Mrs. Sayegh the very best in her new role. We are incredibly thankful for everything she contributed to CSMA, and she will be greatly missed by our school family.
I am also very pleased to welcome Ms. Jillian Gerardi, who will serve as our new Interventionist, providing targeted small-group support for students, with a particular focus on early literacy and ELA.
First Days of School
Our first day of school is Thursday, August 27. Both Thursday and Friday will be half days, with dismissal at 12:50 p.m.
School doors will open at 8:40 a.m., and staff will be ready to welcome students and help them get settled.
For students who are completely new to CSMA, families may bring their child to the main office on the first morning. We will connect each new student with a buddy from their class who can help guide and support them during those important first days.
Uniforms & Student Devices
Please make sure students arrive in the proper CSMA uniform and colors. Gym uniforms should only be worn on days when students have physical education. Additional uniform information is available on our school website.
Please also remember that cell phones, earbuds/headphones, smart watches, and other communication devices must remain away during the school day in accordance with our school policy. Devices should be secured in the studentβs bag OR submitted to the teacher as directed and may be retrieved at the end of the school day.
If students need to contact home during the school day, they may do so through the main office.
DISMSSAL NOTIFICATIONS:
Beginning this year, parents must contact the office by 2PM if there are changes in dismissal. This is for safety reasons. The end of the day is very busy and we must have the correct information in time for teachers to execute changes
INFORMATION TO COME:
Over the next few weeks, we will share additional information about:
Our Beechwood and Linwood Extended Day Programs
Back-to-School Nights
Parent committees and involvement opportunities
Additional events and ways for families to engage with CSMA throughout the year
One final note: Ms. Karina Barksdale cannot be with us on the first few days of school and will return early September. Please be patient with us as we get the new school year underway.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the main office.
We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year and, most importantly, to seeing our students back at CSMA on Thursday, August 27!
Warmly,
Tom Cunningham
Principal
