A new school year has begun!

For our children, a new school year means new teachers, new classmates, new schedules, and new challenges. It is exciting, but it can also be a time of adjustment.

At Lion Martial Arts Taekwondo, we believe this is more than the beginning of another school year. It is another opportunity for our children to set new goals, build better habits, and become a little stronger than they were yesterday.

As instructors and parents, we cannot remove every challenge our children will face. But we can teach them how to face those challenges.

We are excited to announce that Lion Martial Arts
Taekwondo will be participating in the 2026 New Jersey

Tae Kwon Do Open Championships!

📅 Saturday, December 5, 2026
📍 Robert J. Collins Arena at Brookdale Community College

This is a great opportunity for our students to challenge themselves, gain valuable tournament experience, build confidence, and represent Team Lion! 🦁

Events include Obstacle Course, Board Breaking, WT Forms, Sport Poomsae, Olympic Sparring, and Demo Team.

Registration is now open!
⭐ Early Registration Deadline: October 18
🔴 Final Registration Deadline: November 29

Students who are interested in participating, please speak with Master Woo for more information and guidance on which events would be appropriate for you.

We would love to see many of our Lion Martial Arts students compete together and support one another!

We’ve been listening to our students and finding out what prizes they’re most excited about!

Just a friendly reminder that Lion Martial Arts Taekwondo is CLOSED TODAY, Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. 🦁🥋

We hope all of our Lion families enjoy a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day with family and friends! ❤️🤍💙

🥋 Classes will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8th, on our regular schedule.

🥋🦁 [𝘿𝙚𝙢𝙤 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙑𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 — 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙗𝙞𝙣’𝙨 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮]

A glimpse into the childhood of our Demo Team Vice President, Corbin, has been revealed! ❤️

Corbin is now a 1st Dan Black Belt and serves as the Vice President of our Demo Team. He continues to impress us with his skills, confidence, leadership, and powerful performances.

When he was younger, Corbin briefly experienced Karate, but eventually he found his way to Taekwondo and Lion Martial Arts. Today, he proudly wears his Black Belt and has become an important leader and performer on our team.

There is one part of Corbin’s mother’s review that Master Woo still remembers very clearly. Not long after Corbin started Taekwondo, he came to his mom and said:

“Mommy… I think I found MY sport.” 🥋❤️
His mother wrote, “As a coach myself… I almost cried." Those words have always stayed with Master Woo.

Why?

Because when Master Woo first discovered Taekwondo as a child, he remembers having that same feeling.

Sometimes, a child tries different things until one day, something just clicks.

“This is mine. This is where I belong.”
For Corbin, that became Taekwondo.
And now, seeing that young boy grow into a Black Belt and a leader of our Demo Team makes his journey even more special.

Corbin, this is only the beginning.
Keep training. Keep challenging yourself. Keep performing. Keep growing.

We can’t wait to see how high you will fly. 🦅🥋🔥

One of our Little Lions showed off some amazing Taekwondo skills while out on the street!

Seeing our young student proudly practicing the hand skills learned at the dojang was truly heartwarming. It reminds us that Taekwondo is not practiced only in class the confidence, focus, and passion our students develop can be seen wherever they go.

We are so proud of our Little Lion! Keep practicing, keep growing, and keep shining wherever you are! ✨️

Some children happily step onto the mat, while others struggle to participate because of something that may seem very small to an adult.

A Little Lion may be afraid to separate from a parent or may need more time to adjust to a new environment.

A Kid Class student may say, “I can’t train today,” simply because they forgot their belt.
It may seem like a small problem to us, but it can feel very big to a child.

Today was a Private Belt Test at Lion Martial Arts Taekwondo! 🦁

A private test gives the student the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, focus, and progress in a more personal setting.

Every belt is earned through commitment, discipline, and consistent training. We are proud of the hard work and determination shown today.

Please note that private belt tests are only offered under special circumstances and are not part of our regular testing schedule.

Congratulations on another step forward in your Taekwondo journey! 👏
