As I prepare for another exciting school year of violin and viola lessons, I'm spending some time getting organized, sorting teaching materials, filing sheet music, and making sure everything is ready for my students!

One of the many life skills music teaches is the importance of organization and preparation. Arriving at lessons with the proper materials and a plan helps students make the most of their time and sets them up for success both in music and beyond.

Here's to a year of beautiful music, good habits, and lots of learning!

As we prepare for the new school year, I'm excited to share that next month I'll be hosting my annual "Back to String Lessons" Parent Zoom Meeting! 🎻

Clear communication between my studio and families is one of the best ways to help violin and viola students thrive. This meeting is designed to ensure we all begin the year on the same page.

📅 Friday, September 4th, 2026
🕡 6:30 PM (Zoom)

We'll discuss studio expectations, including practice routines, lesson preparation, attendance, scheduling, tuition policies, and more. While attendance isn't required, it is strongly encouraged for all studio parents. I look forward to kicking off another wonderful year of music-making together!

Tomorrow begins our last two weeks of violin and viola lessons for the summer session. Where did the time go!?! ☀

Lessons conclude on Thursday, August 13th, however, my private students and I are continuing the music making process until then. I want to make sure that all of my young string players feel confident in their skills for the new school year. See you soon and happy practicing!

Happy August! ☀️ We are officially entering the final month of summer break, which means it's time to start thinking about the school year ahead!

To help my violin and viola students start the 2026–2027 school year off on the right foot, I always send home a list of required supplies. Arriving at each private lesson with the proper materials helps us make the most of our lesson time and keeps students organized and prepared for success.

If you're shopping for supplies, my favorite place to purchase all things strings is Shar Music (Sharmusic.com)! They have a wonderful selection of instruments, accessories, music, and everything your student will need to be successful throughout the school year.

Having these items at every lesson helps students stay focused, build good habits, and continue making great musical progress. I can't wait to see everyone back in the studio soon!

What a great week it's been!

One of my favorite parts of summer is continuing to make music with my current violin and viola students while also welcoming new young musicians to the studio.
Without the added pressure of auditions, concerts, or school performances, summer lessons give us the chance to slow down, strengthen our foundations, and focus on the skills that set students up for long-term success. This week we've been working on developing relaxed, rounded bow holds and building confidence with note reading—two essential skills for every string player.

My goal is that by the end of the summer, each student feels more confident in their playing, proud of their progress, and excited to begin the new school year ready for new musical challenges.

Here's to a summer of growth, learning, and making music together!
