As the children were creating this "city," the first instinct was to stop it because it was a lot of toys at once. But once I paused and listened to the conversation going on, I heard "look how we worked together," "I made a pattern,"and "my cow is sick, where is the closest hospital". These statements and questions proved to me that while tons of help to clean up was going to be needed, there was so much learning and skill building to be had. Next time you think, "Wow, this is a mess," listen to what is actually going on.
