Excuses are not a means of explanation that promote personal growth! πŸ‘€

In my time working with students of all grade levels, I have encountered many who always had an excuse as to why they couldn't get something done on time or why their performance suffered.

As a future professional or college student, this approach will do little to help you grow as a person.

Ownership is critical and recognizing learning opportunities from setbacks will bring about positive results in the future.

When you "want to want to" do something, you'll find your motivation is easier to access!

Ask yourself, "what do I WANT to do today to help me tomorrow?" πŸ“

Self-disclosure is part of the self-advocacy journey toward growth and getting the support you need!

However, it can be uncomfortable if you struggle to communicate your needs or when understanding what your needs actually are, especially if you feel like you needs aren't "valid."

I created this video to help young adults and parents. I have practical suggestions and insights from my persona/professional experience working in higher education.

I would encourage you to watch and let me know your thoughts/experiences!

Have you tried body doubling before? Or are you interested in learning more about it? πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

It involves working on a task alongside another person, either in the same room or virtually!

This partner can provide support and act as a reminder to stay on track.

The body double doesn't do the task for you. They can help increase motivation and accountability!

There's also body doubling videos on YouTube! So if you need motivation to clean your room or study, those resources exist.

Wild times.

I suggest finding a partner who can work along side you without engaging you in distracting activities.

This independent collaborative effort can also foster conversations about planning and ex*****on of tasks. So you can learn more about executive functioning strategies while working!

I find myself engaging in this approach when I'm faced with difficult or low interest tasks.

If you made it this far, I appreciate you. The full video is accessible via the link in my bio.

πŸ˜‚A little fun to help you through your day. It's also good procrastination for me while trying to edit down a video.

Remember, a planner is a tool, but one tool doesn't works for everyone or every situation!

Work with what's intuitive and motivates you to CONTINUE using it.

Personally, I like easy-to-use and straightforward. Digital options help with backing up my information (e.g., my calendar), but a paper journal is better for reflecting.

What works best for you? Let me know in the comments!

πŸ“’ Some important updates regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. πŸ“’
---------
Why is this important to me? πŸ€”πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

➑️This information is important if you or someone you know is considering post-secondary education and will need some financial assistance in the future.

πŸ“This is a lengthy process that includes paperwork, waiting periods, and contributions (possibly) from others close to you. "Contributor's" as they will be referred to according to the new FAFSA forms.

If you're considering applying to colleges or career/trade schools for 2024-2025 school year, and will be requiring a FAFSA form, please read this post!

There is still more information to be released, especially regarding Pell Grant amounts! I will be updating my information as more comes out.

Please share with others! The website for more information is on the last slide.
