Why BDC? As March Madness came to a close with the Final Four over the weekend, we reflect on the role that sportsmanship plays in our day to day lives at camp!
Whether campers are engaged in a game of kickball during drop off, playing basketball, four square, or ping pong down at COOP, football at a local park, or representing BDC at a meet, we foster a culture of good sportsmanship, both on and off campus. This can also look like learning to be gracious even when losing a trivia game, or a silly activity like the watermelon relay on Olympic Day.
BDC campers learn what it means to be a good sport, whether the task is creating a strategy during a game, or organizing their tent space. Campers are expected to be good teammates to their fellow campers, from the tent group to the Hill. They learn by example, as our staff work as a team and display good sportsmanship with each other in activities and tasks throughout the camp day.
Sportsmanship is a skill campers can take to the field, the classroom, and beyond!
