Reminder for all y’all - We are going to do a PAWFF fishing meetup on Thursday, Feb 19th. It is looking like rain that day, but I will be there rain or shine!
Location: 5289 North Mills River Road in Mills River at the North Mills River recreation area parking lot.
When: Thursday, Feb 19th 2pm - 4pm (or later if we are having fun!)
What to bring: Your fishing gear, bottled water, $3 cash per person for parking & your fishing license, & see checklist for more details
PLEASE BE ON TIME or better yet, be early. Once we get on the river, it may be hard to find anyone.
Other to-bring items:
**** Do not wear a white or red hat or shirt - those colors mimic predators and it may spook the fish.
1. Insect repellent - if you want to fish with/near me, do not apply insect repellent - I have some non-toxic stuff you can use (I’m highly allergic to deet, etc.)
2. Cash for parking fee: $3.00 per person
3. Fishing gear
4. Fishing license (you must have a printed copy on you while fishing)
5. Water to drink
6. Snacks
7. Rain gear if it looks like rain that day
8. A change of clothes in case you fall in and get water in your waders - (It happened to me last summer!!!)
9. Flies: Get them at either Headwaters Outfitters, Davidson River Outfitters, or Hendersonville Outfitters.
10. Safety equipment: Be sure to bring a wading staff (or a long, stout stick). It gets tricky to walk in the river and keep your balance.
11. Sign the Emergency Contact form I will provide.
This is an informal, unguided fishing meetup. Please be aware of your surroundings and fish near someone so if you get in trouble, you can easily obtain assistance. All that being said, Let’s go have fun on the river together!
