Many congratulations to senior psychology major Alydia Monahan, who received an Impact Award from the Tzedek Social Justice Fund for her community work and activism in the Brevard community!

Congratulations to the 2022 third-round winners of the Tzedek Impact Awards!

For Alydia Yvette Monahan, volunteerism sparked activism. As a high school senior, Alydia volunteered as a tutor with El Centro Comunitario Hispano-Americano of Transylvania County, a local resource hub for Latine students and their families. This service deepened her understanding of the complex social, political, and cultural challenges confronting Latine communities. Alydia has since leveraged her experience as a bisexual, biracial woman to fuel her advocacy and outreach. Alydia’s collaborative, judgment-free allyship centers youth education and voter engagement, including partnering with the Democracy Project of Transylvania to inform, improve, and increase youth voter participation.

Para Alydia Yvette Monahan, el voluntariado fue lo que encendió su activismo. En su último año de preparatoria, Alydia fue voluntaria como tutora en El Centro Comunitario Hispano-Americano del condado de Transylvania, un centro local de recursos para estudiantes latines y sus familias. Este servicio profundizó su comprensión sobre los complicados retos sociales, políticos y culturales que enfrentan las comunidades latinas. Desde entonces, Alydia ha aprovechado su experiencia como mujer bisexual y birracial para impulsar su defensa y alcance. La colaboración de Alydia, libre de juicios, se centra en la educación de les jóvenes y la participación de les votantes, incluyendo la asociación con el proyecto de democracia de Transilvania para informar, mejorar y aumentar la participación de les votantes jóvenes.

Thanks to all who participated in the Psi Chi Self-Care Day event last night! We had ~100 students attend throughout the evening. So proud of our awesome psychology students for putting together this event to support our campus community during this stressful time. 💚

The final cost will depend on the total number of orders, but we expect them to be under $10/shirt. The shirts will be a softer cotton-blend black shirt with blue and white lettering.
