That’s a wrap on my first conference in Anaheim!

Three trips to downtown Disney, several sessions full of learning, a life-changing keynote, daily trips to the pool, and one spontaneous visit to Huntington Beach later, I’d say was a success!

By far the best part was meeting my friends in real life! They became the immediate-inside-joke kind of friends where I wasn’t afraid to be my weird self around them 🙈 My time on the steering committee is coming to a close soon, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity I have had to work with students and this team over the last two years. I highly encourage all OTs, OTAs, and OTSs to get involved with AOTA and their state organization so that the voice of the profession is elevated.

Took a couple quick pics and did not edit them at all and that is 100% the vibe for getting the last of the cookies out the door for Christmas!

First round of Christmas cookies are out the door!

These were a more elevated set for the adults of the party with some watercolor details, cursive fonts, and a healthy swipe of metallics. The kids had uniced cookies downstairs with tubs of frosting and lots of sprinkles! It was so fun to be a guest at this party and have people remember my cookies from the year before ❤️💚

Hey y'all! I realized recently that the things I post on Instagram are no longer linking to this page. I haven't posted much at all, but I did recently share that I'm selling Christmas cookies this year!

A little more info, some other old cookie pics (theses ones here are from last year) and some inspiration photos based on new cutters I ordered this year can be found on my Instagram--which is now called wildflower.rachel (for now at least...I'm not sold on that!) I'm excited to really spend some time making the cookies this year my best yet. I've got more free time and inspiration at my fingertips this season!

Since I don't have a personal Facebook account that I monitor, I check in here only once every several months. Got my composite photo taken today, and it’s starting to actually feel like the beginning of the end 🥹

It’s so bittersweet looking back on my time so far while also looking ahead to the end of the program (this is my last didactic semester before two semesters of fieldwork.) It has been such a long time coming, and I’m so grateful to soak up the last bits of time together with my friends at school and learn all I can before being thrown out into the field! Just trying my best to savor this season of life because it is such a gift to even be here 🤍

hi loves! I know we have all seen that headshot of me about 26 times now 😛 but it’s been a while since I’ve had a real intro! I figured during AOTA elections would be a great time 😉

If you are a current member of AOTA, I would encourage you to exercise your right to vote. If you are a student member, you will see my name on the ballot for ASD OT Vice-Chair!

Historically only about 5% of AOTA members vote, which is wild to me. If we want an organization that goes to bat for us and represents us well, we first have to make our voices heard. Voting is open until February 23 just before noon eastern (10:59am central!) ⭐️

Had the best time over the last week, hosting a fundraiser for .tnstate combining what I used to do with what I do now! I taught some of our TSU MOT galentines how to decorate royal icing cookies and it was the greatest! They did such a great job and it was fun to play teacher again 😉

I finished my first semester strong, and I’m excited for 2024! I’m hoping I’ll post more on here, to document this wild/scary/fun time 🤪Especially because next semester is going to be all my pediatrics courses…plus neurobiology and biomechanics😮‍💨

Also coming in early 2024 are the AOTA elections (February 2-23)! Make sure you’re ready to vote if you are a member—I would love to see the voter turnout increase from past years! You’ll see my name as an option for the Assembly of Student Delegates Vice Chair position 😉 I’d love to chat with you about that, so reach out if you have any questions!

I have been severely lacking in the school department all weekend because of these babies (okay and because of attending an amazing seminar on mental health OT…and the Titans game…) so they deserved to be shown a day early! 🧡🖤 now…turning my phone off for the rest of the week to catch up on homework 😮‍💨
