The second graders practiced synergizing in the Makerspace today. First, they set goals for the number of links they thought they could add to a paper chain in 5 minutes. They tested out their strategies and reported on the outcome. Then, they revised their strategies and goals for a second round. They practiced communicating with their team members and working together to meet a common goal. All groups were able to grow by either bearing their first length, meet their goal, or surpass their goal! We love to see those habits being used~Awesome work second grade! 💜🦅💛

🏃‍♀️✨ Girls on the Run is coming back to Mark Twain! ✨🏃‍♀️

Girls in 3rd–5th grade are invited to join us for an amazing season of friendship, confidence, movement, and fun!  Girls will build social-emotional skills, learn to persevere, and work together toward a 5K, all while having a blast!

First Week Fun! ✨

Our third graders have had a busy first week getting to know each other better, building friendships, and learning how to work together! 💛 From teamwork challenges and hands-on activities to help save Fred the gummy worm🪱 and playing Keepy Uppy 🎈, we’ve spent the week so far learning that working together makes everything more fun! 🤝

🎉 New School Year, New Playground! 🎉

There was even more to celebrate on the first day of school at Mark Twain Elementary School as students got their first chance to explore their brand-new playground!

From the towering new play structure and slides to climbing, spinning and interactive features, there was no shortage of smiles as students put the new space to the test during recess.

After watching the playground take shape throughout the summer, we’re excited to see it filled with exactly what it was built for — our students playing, exploring and having fun together!

What a difference two weeks can make!

Crews have made tremendous progress on the Mark Twain Elementary School playground, with the new main play structure now standing tall and its twisting blue slides, climbing features and canopy taking shape.

Swipe through for a look at the playground today, followed by a few photos from July 31 that show just how quickly everything has come together.

There’s still work to be done, including installation of the new playground surface, but we’re getting closer to the finish line — and we can’t wait for our students to explore their new space!
