BIBLICAL BUSINESS TRAINING
Dear Friends,
The world is longing to eradicate poverty. This notion may have seemed absurd 20 years ago. Today, however, by the Grace of God, our modern world has seen 1 billion people come out of extreme poverty and homelessness. Now the UN has officially enshrined the idea in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals or SDG’s with the goal of eliminating extreme poverty and homelessness altogether within 10 years.
Leadership International recently created curriculum to teach Biblically-based entrepreneurship to leaders and members of communities in need. The goal is to train both pastors and their flocks to start and scale a business following God’s Word and use their business platforms to share the Gospel. This training, Lord willing, could help churches around the world better serve their communities from service to sending missionaries!
Understanding Biblically-based entrepreneurship plays an important role in impoverished communities as it instructs pastors who must also have secondary job or side business to pay the family bills. Through the two day course, pastors were taught how to do strategic planning and budgeting, how to understand product differentiation and to compete in the marketplace on features over price, and they were given insight on choosing wise counselors for their board, just to name a few of the topics covered.
The new curriculum was first tested in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and demand far exceeded expectations. Community interest overflowed, and space constraints capped our attendance at 50. The feedback we received post-training was entirely positive and well-abounding in gratitude. Testimonials reflected that attendees obtained new insights that met their specific business needs and offered new perspectives:

Dear LI Family,

I was able to go on my first trip with Leadership International earlier this month. I have been around the ministry most of my life, but I was able to see it with a new perspective now that I serve as the Director of Engagement. My dad has been involved in biblical and leadership my entire life and not until this trip to South Africa was I truly able to appreciate the true value of what he has devoted his life to. Change, I believe, starts in the heart and what better change can we have than with a heart for Christ. I hope to see the local churches all over the world become the ignitors of Christ-like change and the place where all come to feel at home and loved. During our time in South Africa the Leadership International team had the amazing opportunity to meet with, teach and encourage over 40 of our Bible Training Center teachers from all regions of South Africa. The gathering was a time where we were able to sit and listen to all the stories of how the Lord is leading change through God's Word and how a deeper understanding of His truth can truly change a community. Changed people change communities and changed communities create flourishing.

Pastor Malungisa leads Living Water Community Church in a township outside Cape town called Khayelitsha. Khayelitsha has over 1 million people in it and Leadership International has been working in this community since it was founded. The message he shares was moving for me because it put a face and name to the impact the work of Leadership International is doing. His community and church is just one of hundreds of communities we are engaged in. Pastor Malungisa helps explain, in the video below, how the training that our students receive truly does ignite change. The change is already happening, and we are so thankful and excited for the doors the Lord has and will continue to open. I pray this video encourages you as much as it does our team here at Leadership International.
