📣 Shameless mom plug! 💙💛

The Brentwood High School Dance Team is hosting a Dance Clinic on Saturday, September 19 from 1–4 PM — and I happen to know one of the dancers pretty well. 😉💃

Young dancers will spend the afternoon learning from the BHS Dance Team, receive a T-shirt and bow, and then get the chance to perform at the Brentwood High School football game on September 25! 🏈✨

I love opportunities like this that bring younger students into our schools, let them learn from the older students they look up to, and support the extracurricular programs that are such an important part of the school experience.

If you have a young dancer in your life, send them our way!

💙 Saturday, September 19 | 1–4 PM
💛 Brentwood High School
💙 Registration: $100
💛 Registration deadline: September 4

And yes, proud dance mom Rachel content will occasionally make its way onto this page. I make no apologies. 😂💜

Tennessee lost one of its brightest lights yesterday. 💔

The world will remember Dolly Parton for her music, her unmistakable personality, and the joy she brought to generations. But one of the pieces of her legacy I admire most is what she did for children.

Dolly created the Imagination Library in 1995, inspired by her father, who could not read or write. What began right here in Tennessee grew into a program that has put more than 330 million books into the hands of children around the world. 📚

She understood something so important: giving a child access to books isn’t simply about teaching them to read. It’s about giving them the opportunity to dream about who they might become.

And perhaps that’s one of the greatest lessons Dolly leaves us.

You don’t have to hold public office to change your community. You don’t need a particular title. You simply have to see a need, care enough to do something about it, and bring other people along with you.

Dolly did that on a scale few ever will.

What an extraordinary legacy for a little girl from the mountains of East Tennessee. Thank you, Dolly, for the music—but especially for believing in our children. 💜📚

“The seeds of these dreams are often found in books.” — Dolly Parton

Rest well, Dolly. Tennessee will always be proud to call you ours.

📚 Did you know Tennessee law requires public input on Family Life curriculum?

Williamson County Schools will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, September 3 at 5 p.m. to explain the district's Family Life Curriculum and give community members an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

But this isn't simply an informational event WCS decided to hold — public participation is part of Tennessee's Family Life Education law.

Under Tennessee law, school districts that provide Family Life Education must develop and periodically review their curriculum in accordance with state requirements. The law also requires a public hearing where:

• The Family Life program is explained to the public
• Community members have an opportunity to speak
• Parents and community members can express opinions and concerns about the curriculum

Parents also have rights regarding Family Life instruction, including access to grade-level instructional materials and advance notification before instruction begins.

Why does this matter?

Curriculum decisions affect our students, and there are established processes designed to give educators, parents and the community a voice. Understanding those processes is one of the best ways we can meaningfully participate in our public schools.

You don't have to wait until a controversial decision reaches the School Board to become informed or involved.

📅 Thursday, September 3
⏰ 5:00 p.m.
📍 WCS Professional Development Center
1761 West Main Street, Franklin

District representatives will present the curriculum, followed by an opportunity for the public to submit feedback and ask questions.

Whether you have concerns, questions, or simply want to better understand what is being taught, this is the opportunity provided for public participation in the process.

Stay informed. Show up. Ask questions. Support our public schools. 💙

📊 New Tennessee voucher data is out — and it raises important questions.

Tennessee has now expanded its private-school voucher program to 35,000 scholarships, using public education dollars to provide $7,530 per student.
The new data gives us a better look at who is receiving these scholarships — but there is still a lot taxpayers don’t know.

How many recipients were already attending private school? Where are these public dollars going? What educational outcomes are they producing? And what will this program ultimately cost as it continues to grow?

These aren’t partisan questions. They’re accountability questions.
Public schools are expected to account for how they spend public dollars. We should expect meaningful transparency and accountability wherever public education dollars go.

The numbers are worth a look. 👇

Dear Friends,

As many of you know, Thursday’s election did not end the way I had hoped. While I am certainly disappointed, my overwhelming feeling today is gratitude.

Thank you for believing in me and this campaign.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, hosted meet-and-greets, displayed a yard sign, shared a post, knocked on doors, sent encouraging messages, and most importantly, voted.

Four years ago, 1,002 people placed their trust in me. This year, 1,687 did. I am deeply humbled by every single person who believed I was the right choice to represent District 6.

Although I won’t have the opportunity to serve on the School Board, I don’t regret this journey for a second. Over the past several years, I’ve met incredible parents, educators, students, and community members who care deeply about Williamson County Schools. Those relationships and friendships will remain one of the greatest gifts this campaign has given me.

Congratulations to Jennifer Koryn on her election. I wish her success as she begins serving our community, and I hope we will all continue supporting our public schools and the students they serve.

For now, I’m going to take a step back, spend some time with my family, and reflect on what comes next. Whatever that looks like, I will always be grateful for the kindness, encouragement, and confidence so many of you showed me.

From the bottom of my heart…

Thank you.

With gratitude,
Kristi Bidinger

Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me throughout this campaign. Election Day is tomorrow, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have met so many members of our community over the past several months.

Tomorrow, I will be visiting the Brentwood voting centers to greet residents and thank volunteers. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Thank you again for your kindness, support, and engagement throughout this process. It has been an honor to be part of the conversation about our schools and our community.

Edit - The election is Thursday, August 6.

Over the past few months, so many of you have asked, “How can I help?”

This is it. 💜

We’re looking for volunteers to greet voters at our District 6 polling locations on Election Day, August 6. It’s one of the most visible and encouraging ways to support our campaign, and even a couple of hours can make a real difference.

If you’re available, I’d love to have you on the team.

A special thank you to Jordan Montano, owner of Jordan Vision Studios, for producing this video. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with a talented local student filmmaker and appreciate the care and creativity he brought to this project.

With permission from his parents, I’m excited to highlight the work of this talented student videographer. Every School Board meeting begins by recognizing students through the Student Spotlight, and this project reminded me just how much creativity, talent, and potential our students have.
