πŸ‚πŸŒΉ Is Your Garden Ready for Fall? πŸŒΉπŸ‚

Fall planting season will be here before we know it, and while we're all still waiting for these temperatures to cool down, there's plenty you can do now to get your garden ready. 🌿

Consider this your fall gardening checklist:

β˜‘οΈ Evaluate your existing roses
Take a look at what's thriving, what needs a little extra attention, and what spaces might be ready for something new.

β˜‘οΈ Prepare your planting areas
Start clearing beds, improving your soil, and getting those future planting spots ready.

β˜‘οΈ Build your fall wishlist 🌹
You know that rose you've been thinking about for months? Go ahead. Add it to the list. πŸ˜‰

β˜‘οΈ Check your USDA Hardiness Zone
Knowing your zone can help you choose varieties that are well-suited to your growing conditions and understand your ideal planting window.

The best gardens aren't always planned at the last minute. A little preparation now can make planting season SO much more exciting when the time finally comes. πŸ‚πŸŒ±

πŸ’¬ What's on YOUR fall gardening to-do list?

Are you expanding a bed, planting your first rose, adding natives, starting a veggie garden, or making room for just one more plant? πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

Tell us below! πŸŒΉπŸ‘‡

🌹 ROSE MYTH vs. ROSE FACT 🌹

❌ MYTH: Roses only thrive in full sun.

βœ… FACT: Most roses perform best with plenty of sunlight (we recommend 6+ hours), but individual varieties can differ in their tolerance and preferred growing conditions. β˜€οΈπŸŒΏ

Some roses may appreciate a little more protection depending on your climate, heat, humidity, and the specific variety you're growing.

As with so many things in gardening, the answer isn't always simply β€œmore sun = better.” Understanding your particular rose and your particular garden is key. 🌹

And now we want to hear from YOU! πŸ‘€

πŸ’¬ What's a rose-gardening myth you've heard?

Drop it in the comments; we might tackle it in our next Rose Myth vs. Rose Fact! πŸ‘‡

🌹 LOW STOCK ALERT 🚨

Some roses have a way of disappearing FAST every season, and a few of those favorites are already getting very close to selling out! πŸ‘€

🌹 Kazanlik β€” VERY low stock
🌹 Isphahan β€” VERY low stock
🌹 Autumn Damask β€” going quickly!

These are varieties that tend to be very quick to sell out, season after season. So if one of them has been sitting on your wishlist, now might be the time to make your move. πŸ˜‰

And here's the best part:
When you place your order, you can select your ideal shipping (and planting!) date, and we'll hold and care for your rose until it's time for it to make the journey to your garden. 🌿🌹

That means you can secure the variety you've been dreaming about now while giving yourself time to prepare the perfect spot for planting.

Because there's nothing quite like finally deciding you're ready for that one rose… only to find out she's sold out. πŸ˜…

πŸ‘€ If Kazanlik, Isphahan, or Autumn Damask has been on your list, don't wait too long!

Head to our website to check current availability and reserve yours while they're still here. 🌹

πŸ’¬ Which rose are you hoping to snag before it sells out?

πŸŒΉπŸ”Ž GUESS THAT ROSE! πŸ”ŽπŸŒΉ

This week's mystery rose has been putting on some lovely little blooms in the Gardens lately, and we're curious how many of you can recognize her! πŸ‘€πŸŒΏ

Here are your clues:

🌸 HINT #1: She's a climbing rose who can make quite an impact when given something to climb.
❀️ HINT #2: Her blooms are a beautiful, rich red, making her especially striking against green foliage.
🌹 HINT #3: Unlike many once-blooming climbers, this beauty is a repeat bloomer, giving you multiple opportunities to enjoy her flowers throughout the growing season.
🌿 HINT #4: She's known for her healthy, disease-resistant foliage, making her a dependable choice for the landscape.

✨ BONUS HINT: She's particularly beautiful trained along a fence, trellis, arbor, or other vertical structure where her climbing habit can really shine!

Think you've figured it out? πŸ‘€πŸŒΉ
Drop your guess below! πŸ‘‡

πŸ’§πŸŒΉ New on the A.R.E. Blog: Your Guide to Watering Roses πŸŒΉπŸ’§

How much water does a rose actually need?
How often should you water?
And does the answer change depending on whether your rose is newly planted, established, growing in a container, or facing a Texas summer? β˜€οΈπŸŒ‘οΈ

Yes. Yes. And absolutely yes. πŸ˜‰

That's why we've added a brand-new resource to our Rose Gardening Resources Hub:
πŸ“š β€œYour Guide to Watering Roses”

This guide walks you through the fundamentals of watering so you can better understand what your roses need; and, just as importantly, how to recognize when something isn't quite right. 🌿

πŸ’§ How often to water
🌱 Watering newly planted roses
🌹 Caring for established roses
πŸͺ΄ Container watering considerations
β˜€οΈ Adjusting for heat & growing conditions
πŸ‘€ Signs your rose may be getting too little (or too much) water
…and more!

Because good watering isn't simply about following a calendar.

It's about understanding your plant, your soil, your climate, and the conditions in your garden. 🌿

And if you're gardening through a hot summer, this is one you'll definitely want to bookmark. πŸ˜‰

πŸŒΉπŸ’š A Gift That Keeps Growing: Grandparents Day is September 13th! πŸ’šπŸŒΉ

Some gifts are enjoyed for a moment, while others become part of the garden, bloom year after year, and eventually carry a whole lifetime of memories with them.

With Grandparents Day coming up on September 13th, now is the perfect time to give a grandparent, or a special gardening loved one in your life, a True Antique Rose to enjoy for years to come. 🌹

Our True Antique roses are varieties with generations of history behind them, offering more than beautiful blooms. They carry stories of gardens, gardeners, places, and people who helped preserve these roses long before they ever arrived in your garden.

🌹 A thoughtful gift for the lifelong gardener
🌿 A living piece of garden history
🌸 Something beautiful to enjoy season after season
πŸ’š A reminder of the person who gave it every time it blooms

Whether your grandparent has a sprawling garden, a cozy cottage garden, or simply a favorite sunny corner waiting for something special, a rose can be a meaningful way to say:

β€œI thought of you.” 🌹

And honestly, we can't think of a better gift than something that keeps growing alongside the memories you make together.

🎁 Explore our True Antique Roses and find one worthy of your favorite gardener.

πŸ’¬ If you could gift one rose to your grandparents, which would you choose? πŸŒΉπŸ‘‡

🌹🏑 A.R.E. Roses in Their Forever Gardens 🏑🌹

One of our favorite things about growing roses is knowing that eventually, they leave our fields and gardens and become part of someone else's story.

A rose that started here in Texas might eventually be blooming beside a front porch in Louisiana, climbing through a garden in Georgia, or becoming part of a landscape all the way in Virginia. 🌿✨

Today, we're celebrating a few of the beautiful gardens where A.R.E. roses have found their forever homes:
🌞 South Africa β€” Jonathan, TX
🌸 Carefree Beauty β€” Loretta H., LA
✨ Star of the Republic β€” Jordan, GA
🀍 Bolero β€” Mindy, TX
🌟 Danae β€” Virginia, VA
❀️ Valentine β€” Katherine, TX

These photos are more than beautiful garden inspiration; they're a glimpse into the next chapter of each rose's story. From our nursery to your garden, we love seeing what happens when you give these plants a place to grow, dream, and become part of your landscape.

And to everyone who has shared photos of their A.R.E. roses with us over the years:
Thank you for letting us be a small part of your garden story.

πŸ“Έ Want to see your garden featured next?

Send us your A.R.E. rose photos! We'd love to see where your roses have landed and how they're growing in their forever homes. 🌹🏑

πŸ’¬ Which rose in today's feature would you most love to have in your own garden?

πŸŒΉπŸ¦‹ A.R.E. Legacy Spotlight: Butterfly Bliss πŸ¦‹πŸŒΉ

Some roses are remembered for their fragrance, some for their history.
And some become unforgettable because of the life they bring into the garden.

Meet Butterfly Bliss. 🌿

This compact rose was designed to do exactly what its name suggests: bring movement, pollinators, and cheerful color into the landscape.

Soft pink buds open into clusters of pure white, single blooms, creating an especially welcoming landing place for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. πŸπŸ¦‹

And because those flowers remain accessible, Butterfly Bliss is a wonderful example of how the right rose can become part of a larger garden ecosystem rather than simply being a beautiful plant on its own.

🌸 Continuous blooms from spring through fall
πŸ¦‹ Pollinator-friendly single flowers
🌿 Compact approximately 2 Γ— 2-foot habit
πŸͺ΄ Excellent for borders, mass plantings & containers
β˜€οΈ Performs across a remarkably wide range of climates through Zones 4–11
πŸ’ͺ Hardy, adaptable, and easy to enjoy

Butterfly Bliss has also earned some pretty exciting recognition, including being featured in HGTV's 2026 Flowers and Plants of the Year and receiving an AGRS Regional Choice Winner designation.

But perhaps our favorite thing about her is much simpler: she makes a garden feel ALIVE. πŸ¦‹

When a rose attracts butterflies, bees, and other visitors, you're not just growing flowers; you're creating habitat. And that's a legacy worth growing! 🌿🌹

πŸ’¬ Would you give Butterfly Bliss a place in your pollinator garden?

πŸŒΉπŸ¦‹ Thursday in the Gardens: Roses, Butterflies & Summer Color πŸ¦‹πŸŒΉ

The summer heat may be hanging around, but the Gardens are still putting on quite the show! β˜€οΈπŸŒΏ

A few of the roses catching our attention right now:
🌹 Wicked Sister
🌸 Xenna
✨ Enchantress
🌿 Florentina

And as beautiful as the roses are, they're only part of what's happening throughout the Gardens.

πŸ¦‹ Gulf Fritillary butterflies flitting between blooms
🐝 Bees and other pollinators busy at work
🌸 Our zinnia patch bursting with color
🌿 Layers of foliage, texture, and movement around every corner

This is one of the things we love most about wandering through the Gardens in summer: you never quite know what you'll find!
A rose in bloom.
A butterfly stopping for nectar.
A bee disappearing into a flower.
A whole patch of zinnias humming with life. 🐝🌸

It's a reminder that a beautiful garden isn't just about the flowers we plant; it's about everything those flowers bring with them. πŸ’š

Come take a slow walk through the Gardens and see what's blooming, buzzing, and fluttering for yourself!
