Not all reading curricula are created equal.

Learning to read is not the same as learning to talk.
Children are naturally wired for language—but reading must be explicitly taught.
Some programs teach children to guess: • Look at the picture
• Use context clues
• Memorize words
This can look like “reading” in the early years… until the pictures disappear and the text gets harder. That’s when many children suddenly struggle, lose confidence, or fall behind.

Real reading is different.
It is built on: ✔️ Hearing and working with sounds
✔️ Systematic phonics
✔️ Decoding before fluency
✔️ Fluency before comprehension

This matters for all children—but especially for those with ADHD, dyslexia, or processing challenges. When reading instruction matches how the brain actually learns, children don’t just improve academically—they relax, gain confidence, and begin to enjoy reading.
A child who struggles to read is not lazy, unmotivated, or “not ready.”
Often, they simply haven’t been taught in a way that works.

🌸 Our first week at Wildflowers Microschool was wonderful! 🌸

We jumped right into exploring ecosystems with our beautiful new curriculum, My Father’s World. One of our first big questions was: What role do the millions of mosquitoes in our play yard have in the ecosystem? 🦟✨

We also paused to reflect on a deeper question: What does it mean when the Bible says, “God so loved the world…”? ❤️

This year we’ll be traveling the globe through our studies—discovering countries and cultures, learning about the inspiring work of missionaries, and enjoying rich “living books.” Alongside this, our students will be growing in the core essentials of math and reading, while practicing timeless skills in writing and spelling.

It’s going to be a beautiful journey of learning, wonder, and growth together! 🌍📖

Every Wednesday at 11:00 we have Homeschool P.E., available to all homeschooler in our area, ages 5-16. Mrs. Amber at Center Stage studios is a super fun coach! The kids love going to work-out with her and stay healthy!
