We celebrated our first birthday circle today. A perfect time to talk about seasons, years, weeks, months, & special days.

Yesterday one of our friends at morning childcare helped make a fresh batch of play dough. When we went to the cupboard, we found we were out if cream of tartar (a staple for play dough making)
We improvised with a new recipe that turned out great!
First we mixed the dry:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 Tbsp baking soda
Then we added the the wet:
3/4 cup water (with a few drops of red liquid watercolor)
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp vinegar
It bubbled as we stirred it all together, which was fun surprise. We heated it up a bit in a pan, stirring until it all came together.
Once cooled we kneaded it, rolled it into a big log and cut it into enough pieces for all our friends.

This weeks theme in the Fern classroom was one of our school values, INCLUSIVITY. They talked about ways to be a good friend, how to share and work together, and read the sweet book, “All Are Welcome”.

We zoomed into our first day with flying colors! Climbing, putting together puzzles, & practicing walking in a line are just a few activities.
It’s so much fun having the joyful sound of children laughing fill our school!

We are so excited to open in you guessed it: just five days! And as we countdown things that we are excited about…we just have to feature flower arranging! Flower arranging develops fine motor skills, increase concentration, celebrates creativity and appreciation for the aesthetics of the classroom environment!
Flower arranging can be done with people of all ages and is a huge hit in the early childhood classroom!
