It’s been “All About Me” Week at Blue Devil Academy! 💙✨

Our Frogs 🐸 & Safari friends 🦒 have had so much fun learning more about themselves, their families, their feelings, and one another through hands-on learning and play!

This week included lots of pattern creation, color recognition, matching, sorting, fine motor skills, and gross motor fun! Our friends:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Built their own families using our family counters
👕 Created colorful patterns on a “clothesline” using different colored shirts
🏡 Took a “family trip,” following color-coordinated roads with their family counters to find the matching colored homes
🎨 Used creativity and fine motor skills with our Emotions Playdough Mats

We also spent lots of time talking about something that is so important to us at BDA — understanding and expressing our emotions. ❤️💛💚💙

Using our SPOT emotion books and characters, along with our fun Expression Eggs, our students practiced recognizing different facial expressions, identifying how they may be feeling, and learning that it’s okay to experience all kinds of emotions. Giving children the words and tools to recognize and communicate their feelings is such an important part of their social-emotional development!

“All About Me” may sound like a simple theme, but there is SO much learning happening through every activity — and our little learners have had the best week discovering what makes them special! 🥰💙

At the beginning of the school year at BDA, we kick things off with one of our favorite units — “All About Me!” 💙✨

As part of this unit, every child in our facility 12 months and up gets their very own personalized name recognition mat AND playdough mat!

🎨 First, our students get to decorate their own name mat, creating a special little keepsake that is completely theirs. Along with it, we create a separate personalized playdough mat for each child that can be used for hands-on learning and play all throughout the school year!

There is so much learning tucked into something as simple as seeing and working with their own name. Before children are ready to read words, their own name is often one of the very first words they begin to recognize. Seeing it repeatedly helps them learn that letters have meaning, begin identifying individual letters, notice the order and shapes of those letters, and eventually make the connection between letters, sounds, and words. 🔤🧠

And when we pair that learning with playdough, decorating, tracing, building and creating, our students are strengthening those important early literacy skills while also working those little hand muscles needed for future writing. 🙌🏼

At BDA, we love finding ways to make learning personal, meaningful and FUN — and what could be more special to a child than learning with the letters that make up their very own name? 💙

Each name on this wall represents a child with their own personality, potential, and purpose. What a privilege it is to be a small part of their story—to encourage them, teach them, and help build a foundation they’ll carry with them for years to come.

So many little lives, and such a big responsibility. Blessed beyond measure. 🫶🏼📚✨

🎉💙 HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR DREWBY! 💙🎉

If there was ever proof that Blue Devil Academy really is a “family affair,” it’s our Drewby. 💙

As the only male in a building full of women and little people, we lean HARD on him. 😂 Whether a teacher needs an extra set of hands, admin needs help with something, something needs moved/fixed/carried, or our kiddos just need someone to play with, laugh with, or entertain them — Drewby is always there.

And our students absolutely LOVE him. 🥹 There’s just something special about watching the kids light up when Drewby walks into a room… and watching him immediately turn into one of the kids right along with them. 😂💙

While going to school full-time at UWG and working at BDA, he somehow continues to show up and be someone we can always count on. We know this season of life is busy, so we truly treasure every moment we get to have our Drewby here with us.

Drewby, we hope you know how loved and appreciated you are and how incredibly proud we are of the young man you’ve become. Getting to watch you grow while also having you be such a special part of what we’ve built at BDA makes this whole “family affair” thing even sweeter. 🥹💙

🍎✏️ FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL AT BDA! 💙

And just like that… our first week of the new school year is officially in the books! 🥹

This week felt extra special as we launched our 3rd official School Year for our students, kicked off our Apple Week 🍎, AND officially opened our final classroom — which mayyyyy already be one of our favorite rooms in the whole building. 😍 Seeing every classroom full of little learners, laughter, friendships, and so much personality is something we’ll never take for granted.

From first-day smiles and sweet reunions to apple activities, learning through play, and settling into new routines… it has been the BEST kind of busy. 🍏📚✂️

We are so thankful for every family who trusts us with their babies and allows us to be a small part of these incredibly important years. What a privilege it is to watch them learn, grow, and become exactly who God created them to be. 🤍

This upcoming week is “All About Me!” 🥰🌈

We’ll be learning about what makes each of us special, our families, our bodies, and our different feelings and emotions. We will continue working on teaching social-emotional learning through A Little SPOT of Emotion, helping our friends learn to recognize, name, and express their feelings in healthy ways. 💛

Our letter for this week is “Y” for You!

Our shape is circle and our color is Red for the month of August!

Our Bible verse is “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

We’re looking forward to such a fun week of learning, growing, and celebrating what makes each of our friends uniquely them! ✨

The month of August is packed full of themes, activities, and learning through play that will set the groundwork for the School Year at BDA!

Somehow we’re already halfway through summer, and looking back through these photos reminds us just how much joy has been packed into these past few units of Curriculum... 🥹

🐸 Frogs that sparked curiosity.
🏕️ Camping adventures without ever leaving the classroom.
🇺🇸 Red, white, and blue celebrations.
🦸 Superheroes who reminded us that kindness is the greatest superpower.
🍦🎡 Ice cream, carnival games, and the sweetest smiles.
🎂 Birthday celebrations that reminded us every life is a gift from God.

Behind every craft, messy sensory bin, dance party, water day, story time, and belly laugh is a team of teachers who love these children like their own and families who trust us with their greatest treasures.

These photos are just a glimpse into the memories we’ve been making together this summer. Thank you for letting us be part of your village. Watching these little ones learn, grow, make friends, and simply enjoy being kids is why we do what we do. 💙

🎉💙 Happy Belated 2nd Birthday, Blue Devil Academy! 💙🎉

Yesterday marked TWO incredible years since Blue Devil Academy opened its doors, and what an amazing journey it has been! While our official birthday was yesterday, we’ve spent the entire week celebrating with our special birthday-themed curriculum, fun activities, sweet treats, and lots of memories made with the children who make our academy so special.

Over the past two years, we have been blessed to watch hundreds of little hands grow, learn, explore, and discover God’s love in a safe, nurturing environment. From first steps and first words to new friendships, school readiness, and countless milestones, every moment has helped shape the story of Blue Devil Academy.

What began as a dream has grown into a thriving school family filled with dedicated teachers, supportive families, and extraordinary children. We are so thankful for every parent who has trusted us with their most precious gifts, every teacher who pours their heart into our classrooms each day, and every child who fills our halls with laughter, curiosity, and joy.

As we celebrate this milestone, we are reminded that Blue Devil Academy is so much more than a childcare center.. it is a family. A place where children are known, loved, encouraged, and given the foundation they need to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

To our Blue Devil Academy family: thank you for being part of these first two years. Your support, encouragement, and trust have made this journey possible. We cannot wait to see what God has in store for the years ahead!

This week has been such a beautiful reminder of the village that stands behind our school each and every day. 🍎📚🖍️

A HUGE thank you to the Yates Family, Jensen Family, Blalock Family, Gruca Family, both Lindsey Families, the Tholl Family, and the Arnold Family for keeping our teachers fed this week with breakfast and lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week. Your kindness and generosity mean more than words can express.

We would also like to thank every family that has sent in thoughtful gifts, sweet cards, treats, flowers, and encouraging words for our staff. The love you pour into our teachers does not go unnoticed.

To our incredible teachers.. thank you for the countless hugs, the patience, the long days, the early mornings, the messy art projects, the comforting snuggles, the teaching, the guiding, and the endless love you give to our children every single day. You are the heart of our school. The impact you make reaches far beyond the classroom walls, and we are endlessly thankful for each one of you.

We are so blessed to have a community that loves and supports our teachers the way you all do. 💙
