Muleshoe Ranch We are a family ranching operation that raises registered Hereford & Angus Cattle. Currently in our This ranch is home to horned Hereford and Angus cattle.

The Muleshoe Ranch was established in 1878 by Henry Black and his family in Northeastern Stephens County along the banks of the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. Wildlife on the ranch includes whitetail deer, wild turkey and Bobwhite quail. Currently, the ranch is owned and operated by the 5th generation. r the management of the ranch, he began to study trends in the Hereford & Angus breeds to incorporate more artificial insemination into the operation. He wanted to integrate breeding trends that would increase muscle mass and milk production in the herd. In 1991, the Echols children began showing Muleshoe Ranch cattle. Lauren started with a Hereford steer at the Sand Hills Livestock Show in Odessa, Texas, and Will showed his first heifer in 1997 at the Texas Junior Hereford Association field day. Some of the animals we have today are the offspring of the heifers that Will and Lauren exhibited. Over the years, we have worked to build the herd and produce cattle that perform well on differing types of operations. We background our cattle on Klein grass/native pasture or haygrazer with a high roughage cube supplement so that they’re ready to go to work for you when you unload them from your trailer. We hope to provide the kind of quality animals you are proud to have on your operation. Our entire family is proud of our rich heritage in animal husbandry and commitment to the land, and we are grateful to be a part of the cattle business.

Congratulations to Garrison Padgett on winning Reserve Champion Pen of Commercial Heifers at the Grimes County Fair with a pen of Muleshoe heifers.

Winning in the commercial show takes a lot more than just genetics. It requires excellence in daily livestock management, meticulous record-keeping, and a stellar presentation. Garrison and his sister Lily knocked every single category out of the park.

We love seeing our cattle in the hands of people who outwork the competition. Congratulations on a well-deserved win!
