A Day of Community, Service, and Growing Together 🌱🏔️

At Timberline Learning Center, we believe that children learn best when they are active participants in their community and environment. This week, that belief came to life in a beautiful way.

Thanks to the generosity of Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV) and their BGV Gives Action Day, Timberline received a $1,000 grant to purchase new garden beds for our outdoor learning spaces. Even more meaningful, a team of dedicated BGV volunteers spent the day alongside us building garden beds, staining existing planters, pulling weeds, and helping create an environment where children can learn, explore, and grow.

Inspired by the legacy of Rob Millisor, BGV Gives continues to support local nonprofits through service, grants, and community partnerships. We are incredibly grateful to be one of the organizations benefiting from this spirit of giving.

As a Reggio Emilia-inspired learning center, we view our environment as the "third teacher." These gardens will become spaces where children can investigate nature, care for living things, ask questions, and build connections to the mountain community they call home.

To the entire BGV team—thank you for investing in our children, our school, and our future. Your kindness will continue to grow for years to come. 💚

🌲 Community Connections: Learning About Fire Safety 🌲

Following our Reggio Emilia-inspired philosophy, we believe children develop understanding through meaningful experiences, relationships, and conversations with the world around them.

This week, our children welcomed Smokey Bear and a representative from the U.S. Forest Service to explore an important question:

"How do we care for the forests and natural spaces around us?"

Through stories, discussion, and observation, children shared their ideas about fire safety, protecting wildlife habitats, and the role each of us plays in caring for our Colorado environment.

These moments remind us that children are capable citizens—thoughtful, curious, and eager to contribute to their communities when given authentic opportunities to engage with real-world experiences.

Thank you to Smokey Bear and the U.S. Forest Service for helping our children deepen their understanding of stewardship, responsibility, and caring for the beautiful places we call home. 🌲🐻

🌿 Staff Spotlight: Ms. Sydney 🌿

At Timberline Learning Center, we believe that relationships are at the heart of learning, and Ms. Sydney embodies that belief every day.

Ms. Sydney joined the Timberline family in April 2021. A Colorado native from Grand Junction, she attended Colorado Mesa University, where she studied Musical Theatre and Music Education. During her time in college, she participated in the Disney College Program as a Fairy Godmother in Training and Jungle Cruise Skipper—experiences that sparked her passion for working with children and families.

Upon returning to Colorado, Ms. Sydney continued her studies in STEM and Early Childhood Education. Over the years, she has nurtured meaningful connections with children and families in our toddler and preschool classrooms, bringing creativity, curiosity, and joy to each day.

When asked what inspires her work, Ms. Sydney shared:

✨ "The root of why we are all here as teachers is that we want to create better people and future community members."

We are grateful for the 5 years of dedication she has given to Timberline as well as the warmth and sense of wonder she brings to our community. Thank you, Ms. Sydney, for helping children grow into thoughtful, capable, and compassionate humans. 🤎
