While I was in training last week a few of our students were doing their thing in the show ring at the Midland County Fair. I unfortunately didn’t go watch but I was able to snag some pictures and I know we had more of our students there that I missed. Please feel free to add pictures for all of us to enjoy.

I see we had a few new members join our troop and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking to be even more involved, you can join our alumni and supporter group. I will add their page to this post!

Our alumni group usually meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6pm in the basement of Anschutz restaurant.

With that I will say that our first meeting will be September 9th at 6pm BUT we will meet in my classroom so our supporters can see our facilities and get an idea of what our students are able to learn.

If you are the least bit interested please please show up and ask questions. If you want to know more email me! Membership is optional but I promise you won’t be disappointed.

2026 officer retreat is officially in the books!

We started off with an amazing breakfast put together by the BHMW food pantry team! This organization has proved to be a great partnership with our chapter. They support our students in so many ways. We are grateful for them!

After that we spent some time at the CMU Maker lab and played with machines to create things. All the kids made there “logos” on a laser machine. We played around with circuits, Marbles (yes in fact I did lose mine), Legos and so much more. Such a cool experience of hands on science.

After a quick lunch we continued our trek to Boyne Mountain. We decided we wanted to walk the sky bridge. It was a long way up (thankful for the chair lift). The views were awesome and the breeze was welcomed.

Off to the condo for some rest before our annual “chopped” dinner competition. See the lives for that. Our winners were the appetizer round with jiffy corn bread mix, honey, walnuts and green beans.

No trip would be complete with ice cream so we headed to Lake Charlevoix. After a few minutes of being kids we went for ice cream.

As we were sitting eating ice cream a lady came out and asked if she could get some help moving a deep fryer. My kids jumped into action and helped carry it.

We ended the night with our planning meeting then a few rounds of sardines.

Wednesday we had to pivot since our original plan fell through. I found a yak farm to tour and booked it. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Check out A Yak or 2 Ranch if you are in the area!!!

We had an amazing time, some team building, lots of laugh and some great food.
