Congratulations, Mr. Hill.

We're proud to spotlight Reginald Hill Jr., our Employee Representative! 💙 As Food Service Area Manager for Saint Martin Schools, Reginald has dedicated over 1️⃣9️⃣ years to serving students and strengthening school nutrition in Louisiana.

His favorite school lunch is Sausage Creole with Rice, and one of the things he values most about the SNA of Louisiana is the opportunity to connect with, encourage, and represent school nutrition professionals across the state.

A standout memory for Reginald is celebrating his mentor, Mrs. Rosie Jackson, as she was recognized for more than 5️⃣0️⃣ years of service—a testament to the passion and dedication found throughout our profession.

📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to Minor Work Permits in Louisiana

Effective immediately, school boards are no longer authorized to issue youth work permits. St. Martin Parish Public Schools will no longer issue employment certificates.

This change follows Louisiana Bill 232 (2026), signed into law by Governor Landry on May 11, 2026, which restructures the process for minors obtaining employment certificates.

The authority for issuing these certificates has shifted entirely from school boards issuing officers to employers.

Here is the new process for students and families:

Accept a Job: Once a youth has accepted a job offer, the employer will provide them with the necessary employment certificate form.

Accessing the Form: Employers can find the form directly at www.laworks.net.

Submission: Upon completing the form, the employer will email the Employment Certificate Form to [email protected].

Approval: The employment certificate is officially considered issued once the employer receives an email confirmation from [email protected].
