2 days until the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
Student Forms. On the first day, students will receive several important items to complete and return. One is the CCS Student Emergency Information card. This will give us the information to reach out to parents, guardians, or emergency contacts in case of an emergency. This card will also allow us to know who can pick up the student if needed. Another form is the Agreement for Network/Internet Use, and the final form is the Google Workspace for Education form. The final two forms allow a student to use the corporation's wireless internet and Google Products that run their Chromebooks. Each of these forms can be sent back with the student and turned in to their 1st period teacher.

3 days until the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Attendance. School attendance is essential for the success of students. When a student misses one day, they are missing up to 7 hours of instruction, as well as multiple assignments and in-class activities. Families must understand that, because of changes in the law passed by the Indiana General Assembly, all absences count towards a student’s total days missed.

Northview sends out attendance letters when students have missed 5 days and are placed on attendance probation. Parents will be notified and asked to attend conferences when students are placed on attendance contracts and after 8 and 10 days of absences.

Northview wants to work with students and families on attendance. Our goal is to partner with families to ensure that students are attending school every day possible. Please make sure you have reviewed the attached flyer about the new attendance rules.

Backpacks/Bags and Lockers. Students cannot carry backpacks or bags during the school day. All backpacks and bags must be placed in their locker by 8:20. Also, each student is assigned a locker that will be their locker for all four years at Northview. Students should not share that locker with others for a couple of reasons. One is that the student assigned to that locker is responsible for everything in that locker. The second is that once a student shares their locker combination, they no longer control who has access to the locker. Students need to keep personal items locked in their regular and PE lockers at all times. Please keep valuables at home.

5 days until the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Cell Phones, Airpods, and Headphones.
The Indiana Legislature passed a law banning wireless devices in schools during school hours (from building entry until dismissal). Cell phones, AirPods, and Headphones, if brought to school, must be turned off once in the school and placed in a student's locker by 8:20 AM each morning. If students have one of these devices out during that time, it will be confiscated and brought to the office. The first discipline report will be a warning, and the student may pick up their device in the main office at the end of the day. Starting with the second discipline report, students will have to start spending time after school in Tuesday School as a consequence. If parents need to reach a student during the day, they may call the main office, and a note will be sent to the student. If a student needs to use the phone during the day, a student phone is located outside the attendance office for students to use. There are exceptions for those with Individual Education Plans and to manage students’ medical conditions as documented by and pursuant to an order from a licensed health care provider.

6 days until the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

The Knights' Code of Conduct.
Northview High School has behavior expectations for all students and expects all students to follow these expectations under the acronym ARMOR (All students will be A-Accountable, R-Respectful, M-Motivated, O-Organized, R-Responsible). If a student does not follow the behavior expectations and breaks a rule, there are consequences. Consequences at Northview are a written warning, After School Detention (1 hour), Tuesday School (3 hours), In-School Suspension, and COPE (Court-Ordered Placement for Education). A guideline for discipline can be found in the Northview Student Handbook. The handbook is available on our corporation website under the Parents/Community tab. The handbook lists Violations and consequences. Disciplinary consequences are scheduled for the next available date and will not be rescheduled because of conflicts with after-school activities.

7 days until the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Lunch and Breakfast information (Drinks and Food in Halls and Classrooms) and Dress Code.

Breakfast and Lunch for all Northview students are free for the 2026-2027 school year. Breakfast is served each day from 7:50 to 8:20. Lunch is split into three groups: A-Lunch, B-Lunch, and C-Lunch. Which lunch a student has depends on their fourth-period teacher, and students will find out on the first day of school which lunch they have.
During lunch, the far west part of the Cafeteria is known as the “Senior Cafe,” and only Seniors are allowed. Cafeteria menus can be found on the school's website. All food and drinks must be consumed in the cafeteria. No Food or drinks (except water) are allowed in the hallways or classrooms. Students must finish drinks brought into school in the morning, such as coffee and energy drinks, before leaving the cafeteria and going to class.
Northview also has a weekend backpack food program. Students who need assistance with food for the weekend can speak with their counselor to be added to this service.

Dress Code and Northview Clothes Closet. Students are to dress appropriately when attending school. Students are not allowed to wear hats and hoods once they enter the building. Additionally, shirts must have sleeves, not expose the student's midriff (stomach), and not promote violence or illegal substances to minors. Shorts and skirts must also be of an appropriate length. Students should dress appropriately in a manner that does not interfere with the educational environment. If a student does not meet the school's dress code, they will be allowed to call their parents to bring appropriate clothing or visit the school's clothes closet, located in the library. The clothes closet has new and gently used items for students to change into or use if needed.

8 days until the start of the 2025-26 school year.

Bell Schedules and School Calendar.
School starts at 8:20 AM. The first student bell rings at 8:00 AM. Students are to remain in the cafeteria and are not allowed in the halls or academic areas until the 8:00 AM bell rings. School dismisses for the day at 3:15. Students who are riding the bus will exit the building from the south side (front of the building), and car riders and drivers will exit from the North side (back of the building). Students who are not riding their assigned bus must have a bus pass from the front office to ride a different bus. Students who have a note for a bus pass must submit it to the office before lunch. Parents who need to request a change in transportation should call in before 2:00 PM. Additionally, when bringing in a note or calling, please include the name of the person they are riding home with.

Students who are new, who have changed address, or have any other questions about bus transportation should call the Clay Community Schools Transportation Department.

Parents are encouraged to find a parking spot when picking up their students from school instead of waiting in line. This helps keep the drives clear for those leaving the parking lot.
