Sensei Noujaim’s Cal-South Camp is coming up. This is the 30th Annual Camp. To commemorate this occasion Brawley Dojo commissioned this challenge coin. We made a limited run of 100 of the coins. 47 coins are remaining. They are $30 each, plus any cost to mail them out. All proceeds are going to Sensei to defray the costs of putting on the camp. No it’s not really a blueberry gi but it looks pretty cool. Thanks to Paige and her AI skills. But in all seriousness Brawley Dojo has a lot of veterans as members. If you’re a veteran and always wanted to try karate come on in. But be prepared we will want a copy of your boot camp photo for our veterans’ wall!

Congratulations and very well deserved honor for Minoru Nakazato Hanshi!!

On April 10, 2026, the Okinawa Prefectural Cultural Properties Protection Council officially recommended Minoru Nakazato Hanshi as a new holder of the prestigious Okinawa Prefecture Intangible Cultural Asset for "Okinawan Karate and Kobudo".

He is one of the 16 selected grandmasters chosen in 2026 to serve as the official, living guardians of traditional Okinawan martial arts heritage.

He was recognized for his lifelong mastery and leadership of the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Honbu Dojo.Continuing a Legacy: This honor mirrors the legacy of his late father, the legendary Grandmaster Shugoro Nakazato, who was designated as an intangible cultural asset holder by the prefecture back in 2000.

Sensei David slashed the bo so hard he dislocated his shoulder. The ER doctor put him back together and he is doing much better now.

Sensei David competing at the North County (San Diego) tournament. It was going great until it wasn’t! Can you see were his shoulder dislocated? A trip to the ER in Poway took care of the problem. The doctor put his shoulder back where it belongs and he’s doing much better now.
