As we step into 2025, we look back at our roots, drawing strength and inspiration from the past to propel us forward into a year of new possibilities and continued global unity. In 1951, Donald Watt, during a journey through Vienna, Austria, discovered an ancient artifact in an antique shop that would later become the symbol of Federation EIL. This symbol, a figure of interlaced loops, is believed to be one of the oldest known symbols, found in monuments across India, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Ireland, France, Scandinavia, and more. 🌀

The logo’s deep history dates back over 5,000 years and has symbolized the unbroken flow of life, family, culture, and connection. For Federation EIL, it represents the unity of humankind—the ongoing exchange between cultures and people at the intersections where shared values unite us all. 🤝💫

The double nature of the logo reflects the spirit of cooperation, reminding us that no matter where we are in the world, we are all bound by a common humanity, constantly moving forward while embracing our diverse experiences.

Celebrating the "USA for You" Program – Building Bridges Through Exchange! 🎉

e.V., a proud member of Federation EIL, reflects on many successful years of the “USA for You” program! This unique exchange initiative, supported by the U.S. Embassy, foundations, and other partners, provides young people with access to international experiences they might not otherwise have. 🌍✨

📍 A special highlight: On December 6th, the 2024 cohort was celebrated at Berlin’s iconic Rotes Rathaus! Over 90 participants from across Germany came together, showcasing the power of cultural exchange between Germany and the United States.
What makes “USA for You” so special?

The program is designed for secondary school students and aims to build bridges between cultures, foster personal growth, and strengthen the spirit of volunteerism. The young participants were particularly impressed by the American “can-do” mentality and strong sense of community—transformative experiences that will leave a lasting impact.

🌍✨ Crossing of Programs, What if…? ✨🌍

On November 15th, during the Federation EIL General Assembly, we had the privilege of hosting a transformative workshop led by the amazing Caplor Horizon team, Kemal Shaheen and Lorna Pearcy. This dynamic duo has been part of our journey for over a decade, supporting us in shaping our strategic vision. 💡🤝

This time, they guided us through an insightful shared leadership workshop, helping us explore our individual leadership styles and how to contribute our unique strengths to the Federation’s common house. 🏠✨

It was an inspiring exercise in self-reflection, highlighting the incredible richness we create by sharing our diverse capabilities. Embracing this diversity is essential as we move forward together, building a stronger Federation. 🙌🌟

Today, during our annual gathering, we proudly presented the Intercultural Exchange Certificate to our French member, CEI Voyage. 🏆🇫🇷

This certificate is a testament to CEI Voyage’s commitment to quality and their dedication to continuously improving their international exchange programs. 🌍✨

A heartfelt thank you to Zurisadai Ruiz, our external advisor, and Meike Zepp from Experimente E.v., for their invaluable work in guiding and evaluating this certification process. 🙏💼

The certificate was received by CEI Voyage’s CEO, Thibault Dufrene, and presented by our Federation President, Cecilia Gamez. Cecilia encouraged all Federation members to keep leading the way in international exchange programs for youth. 🚀👥

🌟 Day 2 of Our Annual General Assembly: Sharing Best Practices & Building Community 🌟

As a true Community of Practitioners, today we dedicated the morning to sharing best practices. 🙌💼 Each member had the chance to present a specific action or tool to benefit the entire community.

We explored topics like training programs for students, raising awareness with host families, and innovative digital tools. 💻✨ It was a privilege to exchange knowledge and experiences in an atmosphere of trust and collaboration. 🌍🤝

On Day 1, we kicked things off with a warm-up exercise: participants received cards containing half of a Federation maxim and had to find their match. 🃏 A fun way to reflect on the wisdom we’ve cultivated over the years. Here are the maxims we revisited:
