High 5 partnership boosts student leadership skills BRATTLEBORO — Fifth graders at Green Street School are preparing to lead their elementary school next year.

Ms. Cudney's 5th grade class had a BLAST at High Five Adventure Learning Center for a culminating session of the Edge of Leadership Program! They were supportive of each other, themselves and wow, were they brave! To quote one of our High Five guides, "One of the strongest things we noticed was how students set their own goals around success. For some, success meant climbing higher, trying the giant swing, or taking one more physical step. For others, success meant pausing, asking for support, choosing a role, encouraging a peer, or staying connected to the group even when the challenge felt big.
That is exactly the kind of leadership we have been building through EOL: leadership as contribution, not just being the loudest, fastest, or most confident person."

Teacher Appreciation Week 2026 runs from Monday, May 4, to Friday, May 8, 2026. To honor and thank our amazing staff, please consider bringing in something for staff to share!

There was also a bunch of gardening going on with our garden coordinator Tara! Here are some snaps of one of our fourth grade classrooms taking advantage of some excellent gardening weather to find fiddleheads.

It was a busy week here at Green Street! This fine group of students attended all district chorus night at BUHS…. a great night for the Green Street School Chorus!
