The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Jackson County Government invite you to attend a Public Open House regarding proposed improvements to Hwy. 332.

🚨🔔 👩🏼‍💻 Digital Learning day scheduled for Monday, February 2nd - follow Jackson County School System to say in the know!

After a careful examination of road conditions throughout the county, the Jackson County School System will be implementing a digital learning day from home for Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. Families and students will receive classroom assignments from teachers through ParentSquare and Canvas no later than 8 a.m. on Monday morning.

Erring on the side of caution ⚠️ for the entire county, Jackson County School System has extended the school closure through Tuesday, Jan 27th.

Following a careful evaluation of road conditions throughout our county and extremely low overnight temperatures, the Jackson County School System has determined that Tuesday will present hazardous driving conditions due to ice. Areas of the county with heavy tree coverage have not received sufficient sunlight to fully melt remaining ice, increasing the risk for both students and staff.

As a result, the Jackson County School System will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Tuesday are cancelled.

🚨 FREEZING RAIN IMPACTS INCREASING THIS AFTERNOON 🚨

As we move through the afternoon, freezing rain will increase across Northeast Georgia.

While parts of metro Atlanta and areas along the I-20 corridor may slowly warm above freezing, much of Northeast Georgia will remain at or below freezing as heavier precipitation moves in from the west.

⚠️ What this means:
• Additional ice accumulations of 0.25–0.50 inches are expected
• Road conditions will deteriorate significantly
• Power outages are likely to increase as ice builds on trees and power lines

Even roads that look “just wet” may already be a sheet of ice, especially on bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads. If you don’t have to be out, now is the time to stay put.

Please plan accordingly, limit travel, and continue to monitor official weather updates. Your decisions this afternoon can prevent injuries, accidents, and emergency responses later.

In light of the impending weather, Jackson County School System has closed schools 🏫 for Monday. Stay safe!

Due to the forecasted winter storm that will impact our community, all Jackson County School System schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. All extracurricular activities scheduled through Monday night have been cancelled.

🚨Notice from Jackson County Jackson County Water & Sewerage Authority.

Storm prep update: JCWSA is getting ready. We’re checking equipment, fueling generators, filling our tanks, coordinating staff coverage, and doing everything we can on our end.

We also want to be transparent: if we have widespread power outages across the region, some areas may experience low pressure or a temporary loss of water service. However, we will be working 24/7 to keep the water flowing as best we can. We’re not trying to alarm anyone, just making sure you have the info to plan for your household.

Quick, easy steps you can take before the storm arrives:
✅ Set aside extra drinking water (just in case).
✅ Fill your bathtub for emergency wash water + toilet flushing.
To flush your toilet with extra water in an emergency:
• Fill your bathtub before the storm.
• To refill your toilet with water, replace 1–2 gallons in your toilet tank after flushing using a bucket or dishpan.
