This week we’re spotlighting one of our amazing secretaries, Karena Charlton, who helps keep our Pirate ship sailing smoothly every single day! From helping students and families to supporting staff behind the scenes, Karena plays an important role in making Buchanan Intermediate such a special place.
Karena shared that she loves working in a school where the staff truly works together as a team and where administrators provide strong support and encouragement. Most of all, she loves being part of a school community that has the opportunity to make a positive difference in students’ lives every single day.
We are so thankful for Karena’s dedication, kindness, and all the ways she helps keep Buchanan Intermediate running smoothly!

Congratulations to these readers! We had 33 students qualify for the library’s Mark Twain Field Trip by reading (at least) 10 of this year’s nominees.. on top of keeping up with their school work and activities! We celebrated with a movie, pizza, and time in the sunshine today! Huge thanks to the Branson IMAX and Pizza Ranch for supporting our students!

This week we’re spotlighting one of our wonderful 5th grade teachers, Mrs. Brashers! With 25 years of experience in the Branson School District, she brings a wealth of knowledge, care, and dedication to her students each day.
When asked what she loves about Buchanan Intermediate, Mrs. Brashers shared:
“As a teacher at this school, I truly feel grateful to be part of such a supportive environment. I love the children, the staff, and the administration, and it makes coming to work each day meaningful. Our students bring so much energy and curiosity, and the staff works together in a positive and encouraging way. I appreciate the support from parents and the caring encouragement they give to both teachers and children. I value the sense of community here—people genuinely look out for one another, and whenever help is needed, someone is always ready to step in and lend a hand.”

She also reflected on what she loves most about being in education:
“Each day brings new challenges to tackle. Teaching allows me to design lessons that spark curiosity and encourage problem-solving. One of the most fulfilling parts of the job is seeing the growth in students’ minds—watching them understand something that once seemed difficult and gain confidence in their abilities.”

We are so grateful for Mrs. Brashers’ experience, passion, and the meaningful impact she makes on her students every single day
