I have openings in my schedule for piano students, and I am also accepting beginning ukulele students! Using principles of Music Learning Theory, I teach improvisation-based lessons that help support students’ growth in learning to “speak” and understand the language of music.

For beginning ukulele students, I teach with a similar Music Learning Theory-based approach. Students do not have to own a ukulele to begin lessons--I have ukuleles for students to try the different sizes, and use at lesson time. Students may decide if they wish to purchase a ukulele after they've gotten a taste of playing the instrument in lessons.

I've included a video by a teacher colleague that explains more about the approach I am using, and how it differs from more traditional music lessons.

I offer trial lessons for students as young as 3 years old, up to adults. I still have openings for lessons on each weekday--DM me for more information and to set up a trial lesson!

Lessons are located at the United Methodist Church, Branford. 811 E. Main St., Branford. It's on Route 1 close to the traffic circle.

This is a video I’ve shared before by a piano teacher colleague. She explains Music Learning Theory and how piano lessons based on MLT differ from more traditional piano lessons. Thanks Felicity, for such a great resource!

I’m excited to announce that in addition to MLT-based piano lessons for children and adult beginners, I’m now offering lessons tailored toward adults who already play piano or would like to return to piano after a break. If you play piano but would like guidance in getting out of a practice “rut”, these lessons might be for you.

I am a professional pianist who took traditional classical piano lessons, got a music degree, and then was introduced to the some very unique practice methods from Abby Whiteside technique. These methods of practice transformed my experience of learning pieces and my ability to feel “in the flow” as I play.

A later-in-life OCD diagnosis also prompted me to take a deeper look at my experience with piano study. I came to realize that traditional classical music practice methods (fi*****ng, slow practice, etc.,) had some similarities to OCD. These methods brought feelings of perfectionism and anxiety, and they didn’t seem very effective in helping me meet my piano playing goals.

Over time, I have settled into some practice methods that I find really help me both musically and mentally. I would love to share them with anyone who’s looking for a fresh approach to piano practice.

If you think that might be you, please message me to set up a $30, 30-min online consult.

Looking for a unique experiential holiday gift? PM me to find out about purchasing a gift certificate for a piano or ukulele trial lesson, 30 minutes for $30! The recipient doesn't need to have a piano or ukulele to try it out, I have all sizes and types of ukuleles, soprano to baritone. If you've always wanted to try guitar but are intimidated, baritone ukulele is a great option as well. It's tuned as the highest four strings on the guitar, and the G chord only requires fretting one string.

I teach the Music Moves for Piano method, and beginning ukulele using a similar method.

Trial lessons available for ages 3-adult, I have openings on every weekday currently.

Lessons located at the United Methodist Church, Branford, 811 E. Main St. It's right near the traffic circle on Route 1.

I still have openings in my schedule for piano students, and I am also now accepting beginning ukulele students! I have been teaching piano for 12 years, and am very excited to offer Music Moves for Piano this year. I'm so pleased with how much fun everyone is having and how I see students responding to the Music Moves for Piano method.
