Discouragement. If you're not careful, it can really drain your spiritual life, right? So how do we face discouragement without falling into despair or sin? Zechariah was sent to the discouraged people of God who had met a lot of opposition when they were trying to rebuild the Temple. God speaks to them, telling them that His Kingdom is advanced not by earthly might or power, but by His Divine strength: "By my Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts."

This is how we are to face discouragement and opposition; remembering that God is working, and that there is nothing--no mountain or enemy--that will stand in the way of that work, even as He works through weak and weary people like us.

Join us tonight for our Family meal at 6 PM in the Fellowship Hall, with a devotion following the meal. The children will be learning about the book of Ezekiel.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." These words of Jesus which are recorded in the Gospel of Matthew are often times hard for us, aren't they? As Jesus says, we tend to think that there are more important things--food, finances, the future. Yet this isn't a suggestion, but a reorientation for those who follow Him. "Do you think God doesn't know what you need?" He asks. And we must consider for ourselves: will be trust Him, or will be decide for ourselves what our priority is in life?
Yes, we must work hard and provide for our families, but we can do so in a way that acknowledges where the Christian's chief priorities lie: in the Kingdom of God, which means to prioritize your walk with the Lord.
This may seem to us like we are going to fall behind in a competitive world, but through the prophet Haggai, God tells us that a day is coming when the world will be shaken, when everything we thought was important falls to the ground, where everything we thought was strong is going to be overthrown, but the Kingdom of God will remain. As it says elsewhere:
"And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." -1 John 2:17
Join us tonight at 6 PM for our Fellowship meal followed by a short devotional; the children will be studying the book of Haggai.

What is the direction this world is heading in? Sometimes it feels like it is spiraling out of control, sometimes it seems like things are just going on as they always have been, but the prophet Zephaniah reminds us that the Day of the Lord is approaching. Zephaniah speaks of the "Day of the Lord" more than any other prophet; a term which can refer to many days throughout history, such as the destruction of Jerusalem which occurred in the year 587 B.C. Yet all of these point forward to a great and final Day of the Lord which will be a day of wrath for those who have opposed God, or ignored His call to faith and repentance--but a day of blessings and joy for those who have turned from their sin and put their trust in the Savior He has given to us. So what about you? How do you live in light of that day? Will it be a day of joy and blessing, or one of fear and wrath? This all depends on how you have responded to the Gospel call to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, the only Savior for mankind.

Join us tomorrow night for our fellowship meal at 6 PM, followed by a devotional and a children's Bible class on the book of Zephaniah.
