Last spring, Brandon-Evansville Public Schools made the decision to try something new for our elementary students: early entrance conferences. Which are on September 1st and 2nd from 12-8:00pm. To sign up for a time you can on parent vue starting MondayAugust 24th. We will send out a message to let you know when you can go on and select a time.
As we learned more about this practice and how other schools use it, our elementary teachers felt it could be a valuable opportunity for our students and families. The goal is to help everyone feel more comfortable, prepared, and connected as we begin a new school year.
Through these conferences, each elementary student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) will have an opportunity to meet with their teacher before the first full day of school. This will provide time to ask questions, get to know one another, learn about the classroom, and discuss any unique accommodations or needs that may help the student have a successful school year.
As a district, we understand that this may seem a little unusual, especially since our older students will begin school before our elementary students. However, our goal is to make decisions that are in the best interest of each student and to provide experiences that are appropriate for their age and developmental stage.
We are excited to try this new approach and believe these conferences will help create a positive and comfortable start to the school year for our youngest students and their families.
We are so excited for the new school year and cannot wait to see all of our students again! Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we’ll see you soon!
