👏 WON THE WEEK HERO: Chief Dontae Dixon

This week, we are proud to recognize Chief Dontae Dixon, JROTC Instructor at Florence High School!

Since joining RCSD nearly two years ago, Chief Dixon has made an impact through his professionalism, dedication and commitment to his cadets and the Florence JROTC program. He leads by example, showing his cadets what accountability, commitment and excellence look like every day.

His positive attitude, dependability and willingness to support others make him a valued member of the Florence High School and RCSD family.

❤️ What Makes a Hero?

Students at Florence Elementary read Saved by the Boats and reflected on the everyday heroes who stepped up to help others on September 11, 2001.

Through discussion, writing, and a short video about a school located near the Twin Towers, students learned how people came together to help one another heal—and how communities around the world reminded those students that they were not alone.

Students also reflected on an important question: What can I do to help someone in need? Their answers are a powerful reminder that you don’t have to wear a cape to be a hero. Sometimes, being a hero simply means caring enough to help. ❤️

🇺🇸 25 Years Later, We Remember.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.

We honor the first responders who showed incredible courage, the military members who served and sacrificed, and the families whose lives were changed forever.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their lives, honor their sacrifice, and carry their memory forward. We will never forget.
