I had the honor of attending the dedication of the Brandon High School Library that was named for former Brandon High School graduate Louis Wilson. General Wilson was born in Brandon and graduated from Brandon High in 1937. General Wilson fought in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his acts of valor during the battle for Guam.

The Virtue and Valor dinner was an unforgettable evening honoring Marine General Louis H. Wilson Jr., Medal of Honor recipient and 26th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, and proud Brandon native. We were honored to have his daughter, Janet Louise Wilson Taylor, in attendance to share personal stories and reflections about her father’s remarkable legacy.
