Adding simple props can completely transform play! We added metal jar lids to our magnetic block set, giving children a new way to build, connect, experiment, and create. These open-ended materials encourage curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and early STEAM exploration as children discover what sticks, what doesn’t, and what they can build next.

Our sensory center is always evolving! We intentionally change materials and components to follow children’s changing interests, spark curiosity, and keep them actively engaged. By offering new textures, tools, and ways to explore, we create fresh opportunities for creativity, problem-solving, language, and hands-on learning through play.

Sensory is SO much more than slime! ✨

Sensory play can be beautiful, open-ended, and packed with learning. With light, color, reflections, magnetic tiles, and mirrored surfaces, children are naturally exploring STEAM concepts like light, transparency, magnetism, shapes, patterns, balance, and cause & effect.

At the same time, they’re building important cognitive skills through problem-solving, experimenting, making predictions, and discovering what happens when they try something new.

No worksheets. No “right” answer. Just curious minds playing, thinking, creating, and learning.

That’s what learning through play looks like at Castles of Imagination. 💕
