All students should be logging into Canvas at least a couple of times a week. They can check their grades, find assignments, and message their teachers. A great thing to do tonight is to check if your child has logged in, and if not, encourage them to do so. If they are having password issues, any teacher at the school can help them fix that. Most of the 6th graders that I talked to today have not logged into Canvas yet.
If your child is new, have them memorize their lunch number. They will use it all of the time.

Hello everyone! Mrs. Stratton here, media specialist at Burns Middle School, and the person behind this page.

If you have any important or pressing questions, please call the school at 813-744-8383. I can answer many questions, but they will have the official answers for you. I also highly recommend following the Burns Middle School PTSA page for great info! (And please join the PTSA if you can!)

I want to use this thread to post teacher wish lists for this year. Anything that you can buy helps teachers immensely.

We have Open House tomorrow, 8/6. 6th grade from 1:30-3:30 and 7th and 8th grade from 4:00-5:45. There will be a Extramural Parent Meeting from 3:30-4:00.

Also, if you have good middle school books sitting at home that no one is reading, please consider donating them to the media center. I would love copies of Wimpy Kid, Dog Man, Harry Potter, Hunger Games (somehow I only have 1 copy of the first book on my shelves right now), graphic novels, I Survived, Twilight, Percy Jackson, or any other great books that you no longer need!

6th and 7th grade yearbooks will be distributed Thursday 5/21 and Friday 5/22 in holding area in the gym. This is your chance to receive pre-ordered yearbooks or purchase one for 50$ in cash or check made out to Burns Middle school, while supplies last.
