Academic excellence and intellectual curiosity were on full display at this year’s Independent Research Symposium. Nineteen of our best and brightest students undertook this optional, highly rigorous coursework, dedicating months to conducting advanced research, analyzing data, and developing professional-level presentations on topics of personal interest.
The symposium highlighted the depth of scholarship, discipline, and critical thinking required of our student researchers as they confidently presented their findings before faculty, families, and guests. Congratulations to these outstanding students for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to academic exploration at the highest level.

This afternoon’s New Student and Family Ice Cream Social was the perfect way to welcome our newest Bishop families to campus! On a gorgeous spring day, students and families enjoyed lawn games, picked up AWHS merch, got fitted for uniforms, connected with faculty, staff, and members of our Parent Support Board, and of course, cooled off with some delicious ice cream. We loved seeing so many future Bishops already feeling at home at Archbishop Williams. Welcome to the Bishop family!

Last night, we celebrated another outstanding season of Bishop Athletics at our Spring Sports Awards. Student-athletes from across our spring programs were recognized for their dedication, leadership, and accomplishments both on and off the field.
The evening also included a special moment as we honored Officer George Lopez, parent of Maryellen Lopez ’29 and a Malden Police Officer, with an Honorary Lifesaving Award for his heroic actions during an April track meet when AWHS student-athlete Christian Allison suffered a medical emergency. Officer Lopez quickly stepped in to help provide lifesaving care, and we were proud to recognize his courage, quick thinking, and service to others. Congratulations to all of our student-athletes who represented AWHS with excellence this season. And a special thank you to our coaches, families, and supporters for the energy and commitment you bring to Bishop Athletics all year long. Go Bishops!

Congratulations to the Archbishop Williams High School Class of 2026!
On Thursday evening, our seniors crossed the stage and officially became graduates of AWHS. It was a joyful and emotional celebration of perseverance, growth, faith, friendship, and accomplishment. Throughout their time at AWHS, the Class of 2026 distinguished themselves in the classroom, on the stage, in athletic competition, through service to others, and in the life of our community.
The evening also included a special moment as Principal Michael R. Volonnino, Ph.D. delivered the Commencement Address, offering words of encouragement and reflection to the graduates as he prepares to conclude his 12-year tenure at Archbishop Williams.
Most importantly, the Class of 2026 leaves Archbishop Williams as young men and women prepared to lead lives rooted in faith, purpose, compassion, and integrity. As they begin this next chapter, we pray they carry with them the lessons and spirit of Archbishop Williams, wherever life may lead them.

On Wednesday evening, the Class of 2026 gathered with family, faculty, alumni, and friends for the beautiful tradition of Baccalaureate Mass celebrated by Rev. Kevin Leaver. Following the Mass, seniors took part in one of the most cherished AWHS traditions as alumni lined up to “pin” the graduating class. Each pin serves as a reminder that being a Bishop does not end at graduation. It is a lifelong bond rooted in faith, friendship, and community. The evening also included a special surprise as Navy EOCP Seamus O'Toole '23 made the trip home to celebrate alongside his sister, Kate O'Toole '26, for both her Baccalaureate and Graduation, a touching reminder of the love and support that surrounds our students on these important milestones.

At today’s Senior Day of Recollection, through prayer, conversation, and quiet reflection, the Class of 2026 looked back on their journey at Archbishop Williams and the memories that have shaped them along the way. One of the most meaningful moments of the day came as students read heartfelt Palanca letters from family members, friends, teachers, and loved ones. The word palanca is Spanish for “lever,” symbolizing how small acts of love and faith can lift someone up spiritually. The retreat concluded with a special senior slideshow filled with photos and memories submitted by the class. As graduation draws near, today was a beautiful reminder to slow down, be present, and cherish these final moments together as Bishops.
