Well…Mother Nature apparently had her own plans for Chalk the Walk today.

We managed to get some great messages and artwork at the Middle School and High School, but the Elementary School was rained out. We planned to circle back after finishing the other two schools, but then the rain decided it wasn’t finished with us either.

With more storms expected tonight, there’s a pretty good chance much of today’s artwork won’t survive until the students arrive tomorrow. Apparently sidewalk chalk and a derecho are not natural allies.

The chalk may wash away, but the community support behind it doesn’t. Thank you to everyone who came out, shared our posts, planned to participate, or simply cheered the idea on. We’ll call this one Chalk the Walk: Extreme Weather Edition and try again next year.
