January 2, 2021, will be the beginning of the 2021-2022 term for new members of the McCulloch County Historical Commission. If you live in McCulloch County and are interested in the preservation and promotion of the history and cultural resources of Brady and McCulloch County, Texas, please give serious consideration to applying for a position on the 2021-22 Commission.

The Commission meets quarterly. Commission work is largely centered on these areas: Historical Preservation; Cemeteries; Historical Markers; Oral History; Archives; Endangered Properties and Archeology. So, as you can tell, there are many areas of interest in which to become involved.

If you are interested, please print off and fill out a copy of the attached application and return it before November 7 to:

Summary--2020 First Quarter Meeting.

In the meeting held February 11, MCHC members discussed and approved the 2020 budget.
Also discussed were projects for 2020. The Historical Marker Project will continue. A possible Soldiers' Water Hole project was also discussed. A final decision on it will be made at the April 14 meeting.
Extensive discussion was also held concerning the need to recruit new members. County residents interested in preserving and promoting McCulloch County history and its resources are encouraged to contact Judge Bill Spiller or a MCHC member. Members include Eric Bierman, Alvin Bolton, Kevin Dodds, Rex Ewert, Janet Harlow, KJ Hallmark, Ronnie Moore, Carol Pilgrim, Marilyn Waller.

In a joint project of the McCulloch County Historical Commission and the McCulloch County Commissioners Court, a memorial recognizing the influence of Peter R. Brady, Henry and Nancy Fulcher, and Thomas E. Smith on early McCulloch County and Brady will be dedicated at the courthouse grounds gazebo at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 6.
