Athlete Tryouts-
October 20, 2026 @ 6:30- 8 PM in the North Gym
October 22, 2026 @ 6:30-8 PM in the North Gym
Please plan on attending both days of tryouts.

Unified Partner Tryout-
November 2, 2026 @ 5:00-6:30 PM in the North Gym
November 3, 2026 @ 5:00-6:30 PM in the North Gym
Please plan on attending both days of tryouts.

Parents dropping off athletes can drop off in the church lot closest to the North Gym. Students driving to tryouts must park in the student lot outside the auditorium.

Registration: https://portals.specialolympics.org
ALL athletes and partners must be registered in the Special Olympics Center of Excellence portal to try out.

Returning players: Once you are signed in to your portal, you can renew your registration. Please do not create a new account.

New players: Please follow the attached directions to get registered. All checklist items must be completed.

Our unified and traditional bocce ball teams hosted Good Shepherd Manor, River Valley Special Recreation, Kankakee High School, and the VJA T-Bolts for a bocce ball tournament at Barclay Stadium! Thanks to all the athletes, coaches, and volunteers for a fun event. Special thanks to Eligha Brooks Photography for the great pictures!

We had a productive weekend at UGC Bootcamp! Our students collaborated, presented about leadership, met new friends, and connected with other athletes and partners.

Our BBCHS Special Olympics youth leaders are ready for the Unified Generation Bootcamp!! They will spend the weekend learning about leadership, planning themes and activities, and preparing for their Summit presentations in November!!

Special Olympics Bocce Ball Season is Almost Here!

Whether you're a returning athlete or partner or interested in joining for the first time, we'd love to have you on the team!

First Practice: Tuesday, August 18
Time: 3:15–4:15 p.m.
Meeting Location: E105

During our first practice, athletes will:
- Meet teammates and coaches
- Learn the basics of bocce ball
- Complete district qualifying measurements required for competition in October

Important Dates
• August 12th: Please register/renew your account with the Center of Excellence (COE) https://portals.specialolympics.org/
• August 18: First Practice & Qualifying Measurements
• Practice and competition dates will be shared soon

Special Olympics Illinois is proud to be a finalist for the 2026 Cubs Charities Community Awards presented by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation! The awards recognize nonprofits advancing youth development through sports and education.

From co****le, a first-year game at the event, to athletics, to the pool, local athletes combined to capture 17 gold medals at the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games earlier this month.
